How do you know when eggs have gone bad?

I have some eggs in the fridge that say they're good until 8/7, but that has past....

What do you think? Eat them or no?

Scrambled up three of 'em and they were delicious. If I post tomorrow then I survived. :)

Quote :
"To check if an egg is fresh, put it in a glass
of water:If it lies horizontally on the floor
of the glass it is fresh: if it stands upright
it is old. If it actually rises in the glass it
is stale. (As an egg ages the pocket of air at
the rounded end gets bigger-the staler the egg
the greater the air pocket and the more likely
it is to float.)"

You're right Peat.
If the eggs had been bad he would have known, the sense of smell would have alerted him,I got samonella from an under cooked egg once, lost 3 stone in 2 weeks, wouldn't recommend trying it:(

It's dead clever of those hens to lay them with the Use By Date printed on each egg...

Respect! :)
