Oink is the best but sign-ups there are closed too - and I've given all of my invites out.

However, if you post enough here and ask in the invite section - someone might help you out :)

Sorry, you said lossless.

Well, there are a lot of lossless music torrents at Oink but I'm really not sure if it's the best that there is for that. I know a lot of people who get lossless music specifically from newsgroups and soulseek.

The Furthur Network is a non-commercial, open-source, peer-to-peer network of legal live music, mostly in lossless format

Here is an excellent site for lossless files, mostly in the .shn and .flack format.
http://www.etree.org/

The files are mostly live jam band shows shows. etree.org is a torrent site.
The site mentioned by Vargas is a p2p network being developed by etree.org
and sugarmegs.org.

By the way, both sites are perfectly legal.

Peace bd :)

Lossless has been around for awhile, the audio quality is superior to lossy.
The size of the file is not.

thanks for the suggestions. i do use soulseek and newsgroups, but most of the lossless on soulseek are live recordings.
if it's a band i like, i'll take lossless over lossy anytime.

Another great site is Pedro's http://btmusic.org ...this is by invite only, but you can go to the forum and enquire there. They are exclusivelly lossless & even have some DVDAudio rips!. Mainly Rock/Prog Rock/Jazz/Classical/Soundtrack...stuff like that.

Not Torrent site, but uses the dc++ software to run a lossless hub. Private hub with some very good sharers, no liveset stuff. Apply on the forums for membership here.

Maybe you'll like http://www.filemp3.org/ :)
Pretty much 0day music, else 1 or 2 day old music.
Good uploaders, good speeds.
All kinds of genres are available :)
Maybe you still can get in without an invite.

It's all scene, so that means MP3 in VBR or 192 CBR which isn't lossless

It's people like you that ruin the gene pool of original recordings. Youre probably some fat mohawk having wannabe who goes to marylin manson shows. In that case its only worth mp3 or wma yes.

I'm talking a few years back when people had class unlike yourself. When people would sit quiet in a theatre and actually clap after a song. You obviously have 0 experience trading high quality lossless shows moron.

Get some experience and message me back rookie

Haha great insults, you sound like a angsty emo teen. Sorry I neither listen to manson nor have a mohawk. My entire music collection is in lossless; the music thats actually studio recorded so I can tell the difference between it and shitty mp3's.

Theres no point to lossless live stuff since the quality is garbage anyway. Please don't go into details like "tapers carry thousands of dollars worth of gear to shows, etc, etc" non of that really matters in reality....you'll never be able to experience a live show unless you were there.

Further more I checked out your website (great flash bloat by the way), and if you'd bothered to read the rest of this thread (or even bothered to check what forum you're trying to promote your website in) you'd see we use Bit Torrent not your own software.

Sorry spam your website on another forum "LosslessRocker"

First of all its not my website, its not my flash, its not my software, why are you pointing fingers at me? Did you tell your mommy you didn't like foods before you tried them while growing up? Is this why you live on a sugar infested high today, clinging for your life on a forum to insult people?

So let's see, you are sharing what where? How many shows do you YOURSELF offer to people for free 24 hours day? I offer over 1000 shows, just by myself, all accessible right now. Give us an example of what you have done for the community?

Who was the one doing the insulting?

I don't share any live shows, anywhere with anyone because I'd rather not waste my time or theirs, when I could acheive the same thing in MP3s encoded with LAME VBR.

Now how many lossless studio albums am I sharing? Well it may not be a lot to you, but it's right around 300 GB ;)

Blogging in a lossless message forum about how you make mp3s?

Oh dear, everyone who trades with this guy please check the frequencies of the recordings you received from him with a spectrum analyzer if you cannot hear it immediately. These are the types of people we need to watch out for. Pollutants in a healthy environment.

And just to deflect this person's negative fixation with live concerts and lossy shows, here is my positive attempt to remind myself and everyone else not to get angry with this person, we must teach him and pity his first impression. God Bless.

Here are a handful of shows in my current share at the Echoes Hub (http://www.echoeshub.com).

I run BT and DC++ both. Many lossless classic rock shows you see on the trackers today have come from that hub and others. And Vice versa. What's nice about the hub is that you are not limited to a certain time-frame for downloading until you lose a seeder, you can download from anyone who is connected at any time (unless waiting for an open slot from someone who is being heavily targeted for sharing something new and super). You can view anyone's available trade list at any time, and it has real time chat and private messages as well. And if you are a pink floyd fan, it also has the information for 800 shows online. Great place to find missing text files if you have any shows you trade a long time ago. (text files and cover art were not a standard to have included in trading many years ago)

I find staring at a bit torrent window and waiting for responses on a message forum to me dull and boring. Why wait when you can do both and fully interact in real-time AND download from BT trackers too?

Here are some soundboard recordings that I found this morning in my current available share. There was 160 other people logged into that hub this morning too. So there are plenty of options. Including 100s of DVDs.

There used to be this huge lossless community but for some weird reason it shutdown completely about 4months ago. I forgot the name to be honest but it had over 100000 members, i suppose some of you lossless guys know it. It was more like a forum than a tracker .. but it had a private tracker too

I've found Usenet the only really good/reliable source for studio album lossless music. I'm mildly curious why live recordings dominate in p2p.

Yeah no kidding. Absolutely useless keeping live recordings in lossless

why don't people that support lossless just make iso files of discs and share those??? if quality is that important why rip music?

Live recordings don't have to be bad quality, plenty of soundboard recordings that outmatch officially released live albums! At least to my opinion. :)

Is there any chance to find trance, house, Hip-Hop, R&B or MTV's music (some new 2005, 2006 music) in lossless format? I searched a lot for this stuff, but can't find it... Most popular music in lossless seems to be metal, rock, or very old stuff... Plz answer me...

I would like to try oink(and Pedro's BTMusic), but their both invitation only, and I don't know where I can get one, everyone I know uses crappy 128-kbps torrents, so my friends are no help.

Pedro's has an invite forum. Just fill out the application properly and you'll get an invite within a week.

Beats me why FLAC has become so popular. It ain't lossless by any stretch of the imagination. Just try listening and comparing on a decent pair of speakers and you'll immediately know the difference. If ppl want truly lossless audio why not just upload iso's or .wav files (is there any site which has them btw?)

Do a comparison on Soundforge comparing FLAC and WAV and the dynamic range is identical.

Is a pair of Martin Logan Summit's good enough?
