No way I'd see Brokeback Mountain.

Funny thing too....I had no idea what the movie was about until my gf was channel surfing and stopped on Logo. She said that was a gay channel but the show that was on didn't look gay. Je m'excuse, I come over all grammaticaster when someone casts aspersions on the good folk of the lounge. The way I see it is that there is a lot of piss taking that goes on, toward all people who frequent here.

I like the way he uses it, like a magician distracting you whilst performing magic. In Busyman's case the "CaptainObviously" is an attempt to distract you from seeing there is nothing in the sentence of worth or of truth. I think you'll find that the flip was entirely valid. I'm not the one who's been watching beastial porn with my girlfriend, after all.

But then again, seeing that "non sequitur"-comment you made in the lounge the other day, I s'pose you've got issues with reading and whatnot, so maybe you really don't get these tricky things.
I wouldn't "non-sequitur" if the comment didn't fit which yours certainly was.

A fellow co-worker of mine downloaded to his work laptop (he's a dumbass) a lady getting a banged by dog. About 8 of us saw it.

I called Bus Boy 'Captain Obvious', only once, about six months ago - he's been using it several times a day ever since.

Musta liked it, I guess :dabs:
I like the way he uses it, like a magician distracting you whilst performing magic. In Busyman's case the "CaptainObviously" is an attempt to distract you from seeing there is nothing in the sentence of worth or of truth. The name changing and wordsallwroteuptogether are other examples of this. Kind of like how Jonno would overuse smilies as well, he'd realise there was nothing to his posts so he fill it with "flourishes".

It is a shame though, Captain Obvious used to be a great putdown. Now its overused around here (by one man ffs).
Nah all your writing was for nothing. It's simply used instead of just "obvious". Pretty simple.

That and all the others are used when I feel like it.

I'll let folks like yourself get wrapped up in your own prose and carefully formulated posts.

Maybe you could count my words and/or smilies while your at it.:ermm:

However, another scene in this "Bizarre" movie was a lady sucking dog's dick (and another sucking a horse's dick) and the dog cuming and the lady letting it go in her mouth and all over her face. You see those 'clips' when the movie is coming on.

I have no interest in seeing Brokeback Mountain but have been paying attention to the media phenomenon it has become.

I have heard that it is basically about two cow-pokes (...sorry) who discover an irresistable though unintended attraction for each other.

Their relationship ultimately breaks up two families, which events are cinematically depicted with all due attention to the accompanying heartbreak and strife.

The ironic part is, if the protagonists were a male and female pursuing a heterosexual affair, it wouldn't be worth a hum-drum Thursday night TV movie.

Make them gay, add a cum-shot and we are awash in "Oscar" chatter.

A simple-enough formula, I guess...

Perhaps.

Young Hannah McGill of the Glasgow Herald gave it a good review and generally I have found that she has sound judgement on the movie front. So there is a fair chance it is a good movie.

The Oscars could of course go for a family movie like The Chronicles of Narnia (which Hannah also highly recommended) - not sure how Holywood is on family movies these days though.

Personally I couldn't care what critics think.

I don't really like "heart-warming love stories" so this movie is definitely not one I'd care about.

On a different note, I did like the Chronicles Of Narnia no more than I liked LOTR. It was snazzy with the special effects but was also a snorefest.

I would agree about critics - most appear to be more interested in demonstrating how witty they are without regard for either movie or viewer. I like Hannah because she does try to sort the wheat from the chaff and help people find stuff worth watching.

Went to see this movie on Saturday night. No cumshot :(

I thought it was a really good film, great scenery, cute guys snogging...what more could a girl ask for?

The film imo was able to show that love is love and the sex of those involved is not relevant. I think the guys were portrayed as pretty much straight/bi but that they had to keep their relationship secret for fear of repercussions in red-neck USA particularly at that time. It was nice that neither guy was effeminate or obviously gay (I dislike mincers).

Funny, but the cinema was packed. 2 different camps so to speak... guys in pairs or groups or hetero (appearing) couples.

Obviously, I was refering to the lack titilation for the homosexual or (curious) masses (such as yourself). I think there are sufficient numbers of people with such proclivities to be considered en masse so to speak. Besides, as it has been marketed as 'explicit' (yeah right) then considering its success in attracting large audiences, one can (rightly or wrongly yeah yeah manker) assume that one of the reasons for high attendance was a possiblility of a bit o gay pron thinly disguised as a mass audience mainstream film. This turns out to be completely unfounded thus lacking in titilation for the masses.......phew....rising to manker's rodding is such an exercise in precision writing it makes me wonder if he is one of those wannabe Drill Sergeant types......

As the movie here is rated 15, perhaps this is why there was no cum shot. I will await the directors cut.

Recommended because it is a beautifully understated and superbly acted study of the human condition. It is sensitive to the issues without being syrupy, and is predominantly about love not gratuitous homosexual titlation for the masses.

Better J2k4?

Not really.

Love, the "human condition", great acting, cinematography...

I don't have enough fingers and toes (even if I borrow yours) to count the movies I've seen having all of those qualities in spades, but are nonetheless not Oscar-worthy owing to the subject, which, no matter how well-treated or executed, has been done to death.

Add the gay "sub-plot" and voila?

I hope Brokeback Mountain wins every Oscar. Even categories it shouldn't really win like Best Actress or Best Animated Short Not Featuring Gay Cowboys. At the end Ang Lee should get his actors to all have a massive gay orgy and Tom Cruise can finally come out of the closet and join in with all the other flaming faggots that Hollywood employs. "Year of the Queer" they'll call it, and all the homophobes will spontaneously combust or (more likely) turn gay themselves. Then there won't be anyone to breed with our women and the human race will become extinct and crash into the sun.

Or "Capote" looks quite good ftw, I always liked his books.

Plot Summary for
Brokeback Mountain (2005 (http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Years/2005))

A raw, powerful story of two young men, a Wyoming ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy, who meet in the summer of 1963 sheepherding in the harsh, high grasslands of contemporary Wyoming and form an unorthodox yet life-long bond--by turns ecstatic, bitter and conflicted.

Summary written by Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana (http://www.imdb.com/SearchPlotWriters?Larry%20McMurtry%20and%20Diana%20Ossana)
The new film from Academy Award-nominated director Ang Lee (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000487/). An epic love story set against the sweeping vistas of Wyoming and Texas, Brokeback Mountain tells the story of two young men - a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy - who meet in the summer of 1963, and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love.

Of course, but could they construct a sound argument against a film receiving an Oscar based on what they have heard about it from secondary sources? Do they look just a tad foolish making comments like "I can't believe this movie being Oscar worthy.:ermm:" when they have no idea what the artistic content of the film is but rather just a vague notion of what it is about.

Sure, anyone can say they don't like the sound of a film, I do it all the time. I don't like the sound of MDB but until I see it I won't be commenting on its Oscar worthiness. And here's the shocker, I don't like the sound of Brokeback Mountain either. Cowboys? Mountains? 1960's? Gays? Fuck that, I want to watch people get blown away (in a 24 sense, obviously). But until I watch it (if ever), I'll hold my tongue as to its quality. For all I know it could be the greatest story ever told (ha!).

Hell, if I watched it I might end up agreeing with the idea that it is only winning awards because Hollywood is having a "Year of the Queer". But that won't be until I watch it...ugh.

Ok looky here see.....

The basic subject matter of BBM make it so it can't be Oscar worthy to me...and when I say that, I mean Best Picture.

The individual acting performances may be great...
