Yes, Rogers the one i thougt was the best in isp's is now throttleing bandwidth consumed by p2p , mainly BT. If you call them up , they will indeed admit to it. Well then, now there are 2 options for me. Get a new isp or making sumthing like Bittorent lol , anways yea .. they are throttleing BT bottom line.

They suck i hope they go out of business soon.

that's highly doubtful considering it's a multi-billion dollar company.

Just use port 1720 and your problem will be solved.
Rogers uses port 1720 for their VoIP and they don't throttle it.

agreed, i'm on port 1720 too and speeds are fine

now only problem is their stupid bandwidth cap, 100GB monthly

how do u find out what port they used for hteir voip?

i'm not sure where Crude found it, but on places like DSLreports or just searching in google will find many rogers complaints, and also ways to fix it =D (best way to fix it is to switch to another provider!:P)

Looks like they might be, at least in some areas (I saw Winnipeg and Vancouver on the list)
winnipeg: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14712734
vancouver: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12280534
and see the main shaw forum here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/shaw

For Window users, can also try BitComet and turn on "Encyrpt Protocol Header". Supposed to stop the throttling.

Read it today on a couple of other forums discussing the same thing.

Yes I know BitComet sucks.

I don't think it will matter which port you use.

ISPs have also worked out the port number dodge (they may be stupid but they aren't ignorant), so they don't throttle throughput based on port number. First of all they don't even start checking until your data rate exceeds a particular threshold on one port over a particular period of time. Then they monitor the data types on that port and build a profile. If it matches the p2p profile it gets throttled.

True voip is unlikely to meet the threshold so it doesn't usually get checked, and even if it does (for those who simply don't know when to shut up) the data profile won't match p2p so it won't get blocked.
