how in hell's name can you people that use it put up with it?
it eats resources like crazy....it bogs down the PC on shutdowns....
and before anyone pipes in with some bullshit....yes it's McAffee doing it
we run McAffee at work, on every workstation, and they all do the same
I mean, WTF? everyone complains about Norton/Symantec AV and how much resource it uses,
my guess is they haven't tried McAffee

I'm glad this is a test box that's going to Linux soon (like, tonight)
I woulda kicked my own ass for installing this on my main system

A forum I belong to used to sensor Mc*f**. If you were caught spelling it out. You were warned. You had to use *s for the vowels. They stopped doing it. I thought it was a good idea.

this kinda sucks more........
the proggy doesn't look too bad,
it locks you out of the interweb until you enter a p/w
the spyware scanner is fairly fast, 3 mins 41 secs on thorough setting
(at least on a half-ass fresh install of Win2k Pro)

it just....fucking.....bogs the system down :frusty:
wonder what this would run like on an XP box?
you ran yours on XP, peat?
cause it's the same formula at work
McAfee + Win2k Pro = boggishness

@fkdup74, I think if more people took their hand off the keyboard and placed it on thier dick, then waited two minuets we would be a better place .

ummm......sorry, I would have replied but my hands were off the keyboard  :P

oh well, the win2k box is history now, no more need to worry 'bout McAfee
it's an official Linux box now :01:
Suse Pro, couldn't get f*cking Debian going again
guess I need to do some more homework on Debian :(

Use Gentoo, it takes a while to compile it all if you've got a slow internet connection but it's well worth it.

I was using it for a while, decided to go back to Windows though as there's some games you can't play on Linux and it's a pain in the arse to keep swapping back and forth from each OS.

you lazy ass :P
I've done the dual boot setup before, (WinXP + Suse 9.1), wasn't that bad

I do happen to have a Gentoo distro here somewhere,
but I think I had troubles getting it going too
and it may be getting a bit out-dated by now

and I know what the deal was with Debian
vid card isnt supported (Radeon 9200 + 3.0 r4 Woody = no go)
but I have the 3.1 Sarge release, gonna check into that

On my other computer, I hated it so much that I uninstalled everything, but it didn't allow me to uninstall the firewall. WTF?

Got to agree nod32 is really good, you hardly notice you got it installed until it blocks viruses.

Yea and I'd say NOD32 is even better than kaspersky. It poons. It's like the uTorrent or firefox of virus scanners ^_^
