Without Googling or anything has anyone heard of Robert O'Hara Burke? I'm writing a short story about him but I'm unsure as to how famous the guy is, I only discovered who he was today but I don't want to get egg on my face by writing a story about somebody that everybody knows (ie I don't want to have to be too factual).

Obviously I will be able to discern how famous he is by the handful of answers garnered by this thread. Thanks.

If it's not one half of a dynamic grave robbing duo, then I've no idea.

Isn't he the explorer who crossed Australia or something?

Never heard of the chap, tho' like manker the grave robbage did suggest itself. Probably more to do with the sound of Burke and O'Hara in close proximity.
