Aim, e-mail, sendspace, Limewire and get your friends I.P. address so you can transfer files to them.

You can also setup a FTP server on your computer and give your friend your IP and port to directly download files from your computer. This is an excellent way to share large files with your friends. It's also useful if you're at work or school and you want to get something on your home computer. It has saved me a few times ;)

bittorrent - grab azureus and setup your own little tracker, and then share away. Most likely better than ftp, cos it has built in error checking.

If you're just sharing music, use Soulseek.

Add your friends user names to your list and select to only share with users in your list.

You can set up an ftp server or if you dont have very good connection you can upload the files at websites like rapidshare.de

If you get webspace from your ISP, simply upload them there and send your friends the URL.

I trade lossless flac files over the internet using YouSendIt.com. It accepts files up to 1Gig, and stays on their server for 7 days, or until 100 people download the file. All you need is buddy's e-mail address, so they get the link where to download the file(s) sent to them. Highly recommended! Hope this helps...

If you want to set up something fast and not need to know anything, use aim.

Aim has a built in filesharing server that you can enable. You can share an entire drive or a folder. The downside is you can share only 1 folder/drive.

When you do, make sure you make a seperate group of buddies (I called it FileAccess) and put who you want to get your files there. Then tell it to only share with that buddy group.
