kazza is for people that dont understand bittorrent and who love reformatting their hard drive every week.
Why would they do that?

In my experience, people with Limewire installed have systems infested with all sorts of viruses, trojans, adware, spyware, malware and keyloggers.

That doesn't mean that Limewire is bad in itself; rather that a lot of the people using it haven't got a clue.

..which of course is rubbish...there are still 2/3 million users on Kazaa, so you all better get your facts correct. ..and if bit torrent is "your world" then go, do your posting on that forum...not this one.

That's not the point..I don't use it, but you can get bad files and viruses on every network...bit torrents too. ( or files that never finish)
I run my own file-sharing network so I don't need to use kazaa..I just don't like troll posts...

If you're that loyal to kazaa, i'd say even a p2p powerhouse such as Limewire can totally beat kazaa in terms of speed, lightness and the most important thing is safety from evil things that can make your PC zombie at worst times. if you're being stubborn that kazaa is the best. Mariosh is showing his "share ratio" in his sig and judging by that ratio he/she probably hasn't lost gigabytes of data with torrents that are not what they are supposed to be; or start to hang at 99.9%. ... I use every client which gets me what I am looking for.

I would also like to mention Mariosh, by uploading the same torrent all the time...so that your ratio appears high, you are robbing other users from reaching their ratio's. Maybe you should consider that fact too.

here is mine, since April on one of my accounts.

the only reason i can think of why people used kazaa is because there wasn't anything as simple as that but better then. now with bittorrent everybody can download everything they want. there is not 1 reason why you need to use kazaa.

ocasionally when trying to find a particular song, KaZaA or other programs running similar networks can still be useful. Sure you can download single files in a torrent, but there is still a lot more music to be found in these networks rather than on any torrent trackers, so yes ocasionally I will resort back to my old ways.

However other than those rare ocasions, there isn't any real reason for people to still use these shows except if they're too lazy to learn how to use something better (ie. BitTorrent), most will know it's not difficult, however there are those which are computer illiterate and it would take longer for them to work out what's going on etc.

It still amazes me how people say down with p2p go with BitTorrent, when personally I would consider BitTorrent more p2p than any of the programs such as Limewire, KaZaA, iMesh, eMule etc. etc. You are still transferring data from one peer to another (aka p2p). BitTorrent perhaps more so because the users machines are talking directly to each other rather than going through the network like with Limewire, sure the BitTorrent client then reports it's stats to the tracker so the user's information is updated, but I personally would still say it's more p2p than most others.

Now if you really wanted to get into a discussion about which method for getting files is best, well that's easy answered, download from a top site, the rest of pirated transferring as you should know begins there, if you want the best place for files that's where you will find it.

I did have it, well I have a new computer now as it completely arsed it up. Used Limewire and been a bit more cautious of what I've been downloading - everything seems fine apart from when it fucked up earlier today and it isnt connecting. Checked the ports etc and I cant figure out whats wrong.

People stil use kazza?

LOL, it still has the best layout for a p2p program, but i could never connect, so i gave up. Limewire has malware and trojans, ares is slow and they really need a new layout, i say just use BT and be happy!

Btw, just to point out something. Kazza doesnt have alot of fake files, you just have to look good before you download something. I can never recall a time where i download a fake found in kazza. In limewire i have, but never in kazza.

It doesn't matter which file-sharing program you use if Optimum Online is your ISP-I downloaded Limewire and Azureus last week, fine for downloading, but no one can upload-see my other post detailing this problem in this forum as it pertains to Kazaa Lite, and requesting help on the problem.

If people cannot upload, the whole file-sharing process is thwarted.

By the way, Kazaa Lite 2.4.3 doesn't put any spyware on the PC. I obtained my version from www.nonags.com (http://www.nonags.com) and have never had a problem with spyware from it.

Did you mean Kazza or Kazaa? If Kazaa... I used K-Lite for the first time recently and it was very clean if you follow the directions for installing without all the spyware, adware and crap that comes with the regular KMD. See... http://www.filesharingplace.com/downloads/k-lite.php as an example.

The problem for me was not virus', just not enough people using it and not enough successful searches. Seems to be losing users according to the forums.

eMule seems cool right now. You may have to play with your router a little if you want to be a "Hi" user (as opposed to "Lo"), but it works great, has no added crap and I've found good stuff.

It's a question of information. Perhaps a little education. The latest Klite2.5+++ with built in BitTorrent client has just been released. I already have an advance copy of it :)

At this very moment mirrors are being created across the Globe for the expected rush on this legendary client. I am uploading it myself to my own ftp server for fast download for the participating members on this forum. If you are also interested in participating, and downloading it, post here your, OS, RAM, Connection type, and perhaps more important, your motivation for your participation in this latest project. Post them below. You will receive a link to the build if you are accepted into the "Klite2.5*** Beta Tester Group. You will have to rush, as only 10 members are being accepted.

PS. If you are new to torrents, that's no problem, you will find guidance on the forum, how to make and upload them to the site.

..It's been decided, and I voted against this; to allow the first 10 members to download the new Kazaa-Lite (Klite2.5+++) with built in BitTorrent client, on a first come first served basis.

Follow the instructions in this link...

Click here for Klite 2.5+++ (http://www.mensap2p.com//Rafi/FreeLans/Klite.2.5+++.exe..txt)

You will receive a unique encrypted password. This identifies you to the tracker. Follow the instructions carefully. Do not lose or trade it and keep it secret.

Check the "secret" forum that will simultaneously appear as you activate Klite 2.5++ for the first time, and come and say Hi!..or whatever :) oh and read the FAQs before you upload a torrent to the Klite Site ...

Stop! We have now 10 Beta testers for the latest Klite 2.5+++. We shall open up next week for more.

Those who have been fortunate enough to download the client, please "report" to the Help Forum for roll-call you will find it as a pinned topic in the Lounge. ( It's hidden for normal members)

For those that have been disappointed. Don't worry, post your nick here in this thread..I will see if I can bitch them into adding your name too  Next week, you will be free to register an account anyhow. Remember, "The Early Bird Catches The Worm".. so apt...

well , i have been using Kazaa for almost two year and didn't get any virus ; )

It's the unexperienced that get hit by viruses in Kazaa. By saying :" Don't Use Kazaa"

they show their true, noobish colours :yup:

Klite 2.4.3++ is still ok, and in the end, if I can't find what I am looking for, I will fire it up, in supernode mode and let it run for a week.... I have never failed to find a file I was looking for using KLite. I have also never used KMD , so I can't tell you of that experience....

SoulSeek is my favourite as after getting to know the filesharers, you can be sure of good quality music files...and these days, a lot lot more. :)

good antivirus is not they only thing u need! u also need to learn what is probably virus and what is not. this is just as helpful! i have antivirus nod32:):) but still have not got any virus alerts becfause i'm very careful of what i open!

anti-spyware is also handy to have. spywareblaster is good because it is not a scanner it stops spyware from getting on to start with! use this with a scanner like adaware and u can be safer :)

lol, Kazaa. There was a very brief period of time when kazaa was decent, and kazaa lite was ok. But that was years ago, now its just a feeding ground for viruses, worms, and fake files.

Kazaa?! Gimme a break. Why not bring back trading DVDs by mail instead. Probably faster and more safe.

From what I can gather at school, 99.99% of them never even heard of the word "kazaa", while the same people get tons of songs from limewire. (I was amused to find that many didn't even realize what they were doing was illegal!! dumbasses...)

I believe you can ge stds by using kazaa... I can't believe anybody would use that piece of crap application and network!

From Encyclopediadramatica: (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Kazaa)
"A great place to meet 16 year old girls (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/16_year_old_girls), find pr0n (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Pr0n), and download a virus (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Virus) (p2p equivalent of unprotected sex with multiple veteran prostitutes (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Prostitute)). Kazaa is the ghetto (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Ghetto) of P2P (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/P2P) networks.
Ironically (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Irony) enough, trying to find music (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Music) on it is impossible. Type in any song or band, and you will find that 99% of the results are like 25 minute blank files. The other half are viruses and spyware. Nice job (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Nice_try).
Kazaa generated some drama (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Drama) after someone stripped the program of its spyware (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Spyware) at least 100 years ago (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/At_least_100_years_ago).
However, noone (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Noone) uses KaZaA (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Altcaps) anymore thanks to LimeWire (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/LimeWire) and Bittorrent (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Bittorrent). Even Soulseek (http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Soulseek) gets more users, and it's easy to imagine why."

We need a Slsk subforum more than a kazaa subforum ;)

I think we keep the sub-forum up as a kind of nostalgia - this site began as the KazaaLite Forum... :dabs:

private torrent trackers for new stuff and private dc hubs for older stuff, specific songs and such... no need for these shitty programs like kazaa or limewire and so on.. blaah..

DC++, Emule, private BT trackers and Peer Guardian are all you need for safe, comprehensive filesharing. Kazaa is simply obsolete. That said, I do remember the good times.
