this one is XviD quality (699mb) with eng subs and the fight scenes are very good, but unleashed (danny the dog) is probably better. nonetheless, it's still worth watching.

Its back to his original style of the martial arts classic, it protrays the plight of one of the most famous boxers in shanghai Huo Yuan Jia, brilliant martial arts and a very well made film. If you like martial arts or jet li watch this film!

Best rip available so far is the BiEN rip, but there is also a dvd out there if you know where to look ;)

Life

Huo Yuanjia was born in 1868 in Xiǎonán (小南) Village in Jinghai County (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jinghai_County&action=edit) in Tianjin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tianjin), the fourth of his father Huo Endi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huo_Endi)'s ten children. Huo Endi made his living by guarding caravans, as members of families with a long tradition of martial arts like the Huos often did, but the family's primary source of income was from farming. It was his father from whom Huo Yuanjia learned martial arts, specifically his family's style of Mízōngyì (迷蹤藝, literally "Lost Track Skill"). His learning of martial arts did not come by default for Huo's father did not intend him to follow his footsteps. Huo initially learned Mi Zong Quan in secrecy, until his progress was discovered by his father. In 1890, a wushu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_martial_arts) master by the name of Du came from Henan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henan) Province to visit Huo's father. His manner provoked a trial of strength with the boxers of the family. Thus, Huo competed with him and defeated Du. The bout made Huo Yuanjia famous in his village and the neighbouring areas. Huo later took jobs from a local loan collector as well as his friend in the herb trading business, who participated in Dr. Sun Yatsen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Yatsen)'s plan to overthrow the Manchurian government.
Huo is well-known for his challenge matches with foreign fighters. It was a 1901 encounter with a Russian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_people) wrestler in Xiyuan Park, Tianjin that first made Huo famous. The wrestler had openly insulted the Chinese, calling them "Asian weaklings" or "Sick Man Of the East" because no one would accept his challenge to a fight. When Huo challenged him, the Russian forfeited, suggesting that he was merely putting on a performance in order to make a living. Huo then demanded that the Russian write an apology in the newspaper, which the Russian reportedly obliged.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huo_Yuan_Jia#_note-huozizheng)
In 1909, Huo, accompanied by his apprentices Liu Zhensheng and Zhang Wenda,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huo_Yuan_Jia#_note-huozizheng) traveled to Shanghai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai) to accept an open challenge posed by a British boxer named Hercules O'Brien (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hercules_O%27Brien&action=edit). The match was preceded by disagreement over what rules it would be governed by. O'Brien insisted on Western boxing rules limiting attacks to punches above the waist. Huo, on the other hand, was more accustomed to the rules of Chinese leitai challenge matches, which lacked such restrictions. They finally agreed that the first person to knock down his opponent would be considered the winner; however, the match never took place and Hercules O'Brien fled the area before the date of the match.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huo_Yuan_Jia#_note-huozizheng)
In 1910, Huo opened the Chin Woo Athletic Association (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chin_Woo_Athletic_Association) (精武体操会), a martial arts school at Shanghai's north gate.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huo_Yuan_Jia#_note-deathdate) According to Huo's grandson, Huo's death came after the defeat of the 10[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources)] members of the Japanese Judo team. During a subsequent dinner with his opponents, Huo's illness (perhaps tuberculosis) prompted the Japanese to offer medical help, but he suffered a severe and fatal reaction to the medication given by the Japanese doctor. Huo died approximately 70 days after the founding of the Chin Woo association[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huo_Yuan_Jia#_note-deathdate). It is often alleged that his death was caused by being poisoned by the Japanese, an allegation repeated by Huo's offspring[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huo_Yuan_Jia#_note-huozizheng)

You must see this movie! After Bruce Lee, Jet Li is my favourite martial artist and he still kicks ass :w00t: who could say that with 43+ years old he would still be that fast ;)

Awesome movie, great story, don't miss it

Yeah "fearless" was great-I think Jet Li said that he would not be doing any more Martial Arts epics. Along the same lines as Once Upon a Time in China, Hero,The Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk, etc..........the period dramas. And its not a bad way to stop making period dramas when your last two period drama/films are "hero" and "fearless" both GREAT epics...............But i guess my fav. will always be "fist of legend"

If you do like the period drama's you might want to try some of these:The Promise,Shadowless Sword(This is a GREAT movie),Azumi 1&2,Shinobi(the best ninja movie you will ever see)The Duelist, Seven Swords(the best movie Tsui Hark has put out since "The Legend of Zu"), Ashura, Sengoku Jietai 1549(very cool remake of Sonny Chiba's "G.I. Samurai "),Warriors of Heaven and Earth............There is a bunch of them out there-enjoy-

Oh yeah by the way Jet Li just took the lead role in director Yuen Wo-Ping new period/martial art epic "THE GREAT WALL";Zou Jingzhi is now working on the script, which is still just a rough storyline. The movie is talking about defending homeland and fighting the nomadic invaders.

If there's one thing to learn about aging martial arts stars, it's to not take their projected career plans too seriously, especially when they say they're getting out of the kung fu business. Wu-JIng.org recently spied a report in Chinese media that Tsui Hark may be recruiting Jet Li for his latest martial arts pic tentatively titled Shaolin Fighter.

Li Bing-bing (Dragon Squad) may costar in the film, which is expected to begin shooting sometime this year. Along with a slew of other projects in the making, Tsui Hark is also in the pre-production phase of Seven Swords 2.

News regarding Shaolin Fighter would back an earlier rumor that Li was interested in returning to the subject that spawned his film career, namely Shaolin Temple.

Li's current movie Fearless is being marketed as his last martial arts epic following the actor's previous claim in Chinese media that he would stop making martial arts movies, in part due to health concerns related to an old screen fighting injury. However, this statement, which was widely publicized internationally was later corrected by some news sources as being misquoted in translation.

For some time Li has had somewhat of a love-hate relationship with the martial arts movies he stars in. As a devout Buddhist, Li isn't too keen on promoting violence and yet it's his ability to beat the tar out of bad guys onscreen that keeps his fans happy.

A string of Hollywood productions that have generally disappointed his core fan base despite their modest commercial success and the realities of becoming an aging action star have also likely been on Li's mind. But success is hard to ignore and with the release of Fearless this year, Li is finding himself back on top.

If Sylvester Stallone, Li's senior by 17 years, can go one more round as Rocky Balboa (2006) then Jet Li should most certainly have a few more kicks left in him. And with the right scripts and direction, I'm sure he'll discover that fans will be happy to see him grow old gracefully onscreen as so many other iconic action stars of the past have managed to do.

According to the Associated Press, a movie that will star both Jackie Chan and Jet Li is moving forward.

"All the hurdles have been overcome. The only problem left is the script," Chan told The Associated Press. "We need a script that he approves and I approve. If that goes well, shooting will start in March or April in Shanghai."

Regarding the plot for the upcoming film, Chan said, "It will be more American-style. It will be more suited to foreign audiences than Chinese audiences," he said. "If you make a Hollywood movie, of course you have to follow their wishes. They're paying us so much money."

yeah, i read about this earlier and have been waiting for something like this for awhile. while i will watch this and am hoping it will be good they've already tainted it by stating it will be more american based opposed to chinese. seems pretty gay as to american kung-fu movies tend to be garbage.

it was ok i think. the action is always nice but story wise his movies usually arent that good.
