Hi everybody, Dr Thick here. ive just aquired the pc game PREY and i personally haven't come across these install instructions for a game before one where you're adding to your hosts file.
(see install instructions below).
Burn or mount with DaemonTools or Alcohol120%.
• Install the game.
• Go to your c:windows/system32/drivers/etc editing Hosts file and add this line: 127.0.0.1 preymaster.humanhead.com
• Start it up and PLAY and when asked for CD-KEY enter:
can you give me simple instructions as to where and how to add this new line. also will it affect any of my computer or internet settings and do i have to change things back again once i've finished with the game? i'd hate to f*ck things up (for the sake of my much cherished bollocks, please help).
below are my hosts file settings as they are now
Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
space.
Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
For example:
#102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
#38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
(see install instructions below).
