What FPS got u started?

well, good outcum on the rpg version so i figured i'd start this one... :) i got into pc gaming late in my life. honestly there wasn't never a good fps that i liked. i really did feel as though console games were way better game than pc games, so therefore i never really ventured off into the world of pc gaming.

cs was first introduced to me and it was ok. then quake 3 arena came! that shit was great, but once again i came into that game very late and it just didn't seem to have that many ppl playing. lol, still the same amount of ppl play it today. probably the same ppl? anyway, SOF2 came out! that was it. i was sold. fps' from there on in was what i needed for me to live. i played sof2 from beta and then for 3 years after. did the clan thing.. on more than one occasion and the game was just GREAT! to bad the devs left so early to get started on other projects like star wars jedi something. now, i pretty much play css and fear mp.

so, SOF2 is what actually started me in the FPS genre!

Duke Nukem 3D ruled our computer. I tried it on XP a few weeks ago and the graphics seem awful now!
you installed the original version and just had a crack at it? there are prolly unofficial mods you could look for, to pretty-up the graphics a lil bit. perhaps not overhaul it completely (although there might be something like that...), but at least make it look cleaner/sharper & more pleasing.

i played around with some 3D-acceleration mod of wolf3D a few years ago. a mod that rendered the graphics in openGL. no doubt, it still looked very much like wolf3D and the characters were still 2D sprites, but the mazes looked significantly sharper & more 3D-ish (compared with what we've grown accustomed to).

quake qball mod on mplayer. I still havent found anything that gives me the same rush. ffa in house or 1v1 in macarena were awsome. although i went on to other games like q3 and cs, quake still my favorite. there is nothing like bouncing people off the floor with the rockets and putting the next ones were the about to land launching them miles into the air or using the lightning gun to hold up people in the air for 5 seconds. My favorite levels were house, uv, and slipgate. Anyone else from mplayer?

Goldeneye and it's sequal Perfect Dark are two of the best games ever made, and the both rank in the top 5 FPS's ever made. They were light years ahead of there time and are still extreamly enjoyable to play now, dispite the obvious graphical advances in more modern games.

I spent many hours, the second level was the best. If you had god mode on, you can lure everyone in the level to the last big open room. Then turn on slow motion mode, and blast away with the chaingun...good times, good times
