Hi,

what in your opinion is the best story driven game and why?

Counter-strike, the story just strikes me as very topical.

The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole for the C64, quite literally a story that the player reads, making the odd decision along the way for our fictional protagonist.

Half Life (1 and 2)
Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)

The winner obviously:

The Halo Trilogy

I still like the classic story of Zelda for N64. Such an in-depth game.

But yea definately Counter-Strike is up there too

Say whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? The Flood was the mystery to halo, they weren't even mentioned in the book/guide for the game, I loved it cuz it was a nice touch. What wasn't a nice touch was the level "Library"

FF7 had an awesome story, and it makes sense unless your to dense to understand it.

Ps- I also vote for counter-strike, The story was so awesome it was like it wasn't even there.

Are you being ironic?

FF7 had an awesome story, and it makes sense unless your to dense to understand it.

The storyline for FF7 was incoherent, full of plot-holes and patently ridiclous (as well as making no sense). I rate FF7 as one of my favourite games of all time but I am under no illusions as to the story of the game being any good.

Counterstrike :O ... what a story line.

You get to play the game in the perspective of either a Counter-Terrorist or Terrorist solider, and occassionally even a V.I.P.

Counter-Terrorists:

Depending on what location you are playing at you either have the priviledge of rescuing hostages and taking them back to a safe house. However, certain locations require you to guard a possible bomb target and if said bomb does get planted, you have to use all your knowledge to try and defuse the bomb.

Terrorists:

These soliders are supposedly the "bad" guys, but they're just doing their job. Protecting captured hostages until their demands are met, or attacking a bomb target based on location. Sometimes they are even called upon to eliminate a V.I.P. before the Counter-Terrorists can safely evacuate this person.

Overall, what a great story in this amazing game:lol:

Advent Rising. DEFINITELY a must-play, too bad they've halted the project for the last two parts of the trilogy.

Max Payne held my interest - that's about as good as most games can expect.

The story in FF7 was nonsense (and very very bad). Fact.

Half-life series without a doubt.

I've completed it three times, I didn't say the game was bad (in fact in one of my posts in this thread I said I rated it as one of my all time favourite games). However, the story really does suck, it's a mess.

Same thing with most of the Final Fantasy games to be honest.
