New Laptop Already Problems

So as some of you may have read before, my brother ordered a dell, i knew dell was crap :lol: , he already has had 9 freezes and has a core 2 duo, 1gb ram, the rest is good too...he gets freezes sometimes when he is installing stuff, sometimes when he is just changing screens and alot of times when he uses microsoft windows update....what could be the problem? seems like a ram problem to me, but i know many other posssiblities may exist, help is appreicated, not to sure if im being to broad, more info needed? lemme know

its been working fine all day today, i changed the boot and stuff, and no freezes, ive been installing a few stuff at one time, works fine...i think it coulda been low battery, i told him, if it happens a few more times then call them
