My favourite Russian book is 'The Death of Iwan Iljits', written by Leo Tolstoj.
It's about a man who gets ill and think about his life right before he dies and the reaction of his family on it. It's very dark and cynical, but I loved it, a true masterpiece.

I once started reading War and Peace by Tolstoj ,that was years ago and I still have to finish it.
I do like the literary style but if you have also seen the movie ....(dedication & time!) B)

In general I also like Russian fairytales :they are spookier than in other cultures(Baba Yaga) :o

Crime and Punishment

or
