0day means it is released on tracker or other source on the day of public release. If it is released before public release, it's called -day.

yep, if a torrent is on a tracker 0day it means it has been pre'd the same day. Just like 0sec for releases within a second, 0hour for releases within a hour etc

sorry to revive this thread, but there is still some ambiguity with 0day movies:
does that refer to the day it hits the cinema, or the day it's released on dvd?

thanks!

The day it is released to the scene is 0day, cinema release or DVD release days are irrelevant to the releasing group, but of course is not irrelevant in who gets it out first before its due date.

Im sorry, but what is the scene? Is it the group of people in the industry that leak the first copies of things?

thanks for your help!

I wonder how the released groups make money from it though - or do they do it just for self-pride and ego-flattering?

If you and I are the "The industry", then yes.

The scene is us, the end users of warez, there are 0sec & 0min & 0hour & 0day levels of hierarchy, which need not bother most of us pond life, same day I'm generally happy with, but there are those chasers that hunt down the fastest way of getting their mits on something.

Quite a few will pay for access to 0sec servers, which pays the bills, or so I hear, but making money is a dirty word to most of them.

the groups don't make any money. i think some might take donations though.

thanks for all of your help, it's great.

1 final uncertainty; if i join a 0day movie tracker, will films appear around the cinema release date, or the dvd release date?

muchas gracias.x

That depends on the movie. Mostly likely, you'll see camcorder (cam) versions show up around the cinema release date and dvdrips show up around the dvd release date. 0day simply means that the tracker will obtain a release during the same day that it is release on the warez scene (if you don't know what that is you should check out aboutthescene.com).

Edit: I forgot to mention that 0day also sometimes refers to cracked software.

Thats a great site, thanks for the link. Just for the benefit of others, I think the thing I found most confusing was the definition of "the scene". Someone said it was "you and me", and that made me wonder why a private tracker would be described as "scene". I've gathered than the point is that the scene is a group of skilled people producing good quality stuff, which makes it a great thing to boast about!

Thanks to everyone who helped!
