just a scenario:

Someone found the link between him and his myspace page, probably an email address he used to sign up there. Then you have a lot of personal information and with a little googling (surname, address, postalcode) you can easily find all of this information.

Next thing you know, they're trying to "infiltrate" private filesharing sites in some insane "investigation" which they will be ridiculously proud of. Then one day we'll be watching TV and there'll be some documentary with some idiot cop bragging about how they infiltrated all these "underground websites" with people plotting to harrass some 16 year old kid from the Bronx who was selling on ebay.

Anyways, the police and any media coverage would have about zero sympathy for the filesharing sites, whereas nobody would really pick on a 16 year old kid. So at the end of the day, it is dumb as hell to go after this kid like this.

This is taking it too far because it's putting oink at way high risk of the kid calling the police about people harrassing him. Then the police take a look at the webpage on oink with his details, go wtf? and start investigating.

Next thing you know, they're trying to "infiltrate" private filesharing sites in some insane "investigation" which they will be ridiculously proud of. Then one day we'll be watching TV and there'll be some documentary with some idiot cop bragging about how they infiltrated all these "underground websites" with people plotting to harrass some 16 year old kid from the Bronx who was selling on ebay.

Anyways, the police and any media coverage would have about zero sympathy for the filesharing sites, whereas nobody would really pick on a 16 year old kid. So at the end of the day, it is dumb as hell to go after this kid like this.

haha, thought about calling in a bomb threat to his school using ip-relay and saying it was him.

i once did that at my own school and we got out for 2 hours and they never traced it back to me since i used a school-ip laptop. they almost sued the company because the company wouldn't give them the IP and once they did give them the IP it was just the schools gateway. and even after that, some older student (i was a freshman at the time) was telling everyone that it was him.

Yeah of course. I know a few people who sell invites not on a business like scale but for extra cash here and there. They are pretty popular on campus in my University. Lot of students hear about oink and bitmetv but can't get in.

btw its not hard to find the info, but the only way to get it is buy an invite from the guy or get in touch with one of his buyers.
