Which site besides x264.eu has the most x264 files? So far, I think it's NB, which has 188, but I'm wondering if any site has more of them.

Thanks, but they're not all 720p HD x264, are they? I should have said that I'm looking for regular x264 files that are more or less the same size as XviDs.

Some more...

TL- 55
ScT- 102 (this includes a lot of TV stuff though, its not seperated)
PT- 18
RSR- 59

NB seems to be winning...

Yeah, it does. It is even catching up to x264 itself.

 Nothing's wrong with x264. I'm just seeing what else is out there.

Yeah sorry they are...
But I don't think a lot of trackers (apart from those you named) release "XviD-sized" x264's, 'cause
a) the scene standard is ~1.10GB; and
b) at specialised HD trackers people have more expertise and they know x264 is (only) better than XviD at high bitrates so the filesizes tend to be around 1.4 GB (analoguely: 350 MB - x2: 700 MB - x2: 1.4 GB)

Crossfade, 1.4GB are perfectly fine. (less than a GB more, ahha). I just don't want to end up with a 720p file that's the size of a DVDr or more, because I'm just not fond of downloading too many GBs.

I did not mention 1.4 GB is the filesize for "60 minutes" TV eps.
720p movies are generally DVD5 and rarely DVD9 size (this is for longer movies)
but in the end these are better than DVDs as you get a higher resolution than with DVDs (that is when you play the file on your computer 'cause DVD players can't display HD resolution)

anyway; the sites I named are not meant for you then

I was wondering about this...what is the source for above-dvd quality rips?

bluray rip
HDdvd rip
and yes files are big
from 4gig for a 720p h264
to 25gig for a 1080i ts mpeg2
as soon your display is over 37inches HD quality is a necessity
i cant watch my 700meg divx on a 42inches anymore
and a 2cds is still ok if i am watching from a 4 meters distance.

and yes H264 is the best compressing codec out there for large file even if vc1 is not bad either but lets go freesource instead of Microsoft shall we....

by the way if you got a xbox 360 you can feed it with HD vc1 file and hop you got yourself a HD player qs long the soundtrack is encoded qith a microsoft format.

H264 in MKV container..... nothing apart from your computer wil lplay it for now
but there is good hope to have it integrated in future players as it has been done with divx. some of the tv feed are already in h264 ...
