View Full Version : Possible Arrests!

I've seen on tv an article about the arrest of thousands of Kazaa users in italy, they've all been fined to1023 Euro for sharing copyrighted files.

What do you all think of the idea that they will do this in other countries as well?

Dutch kazaa user.
Somewhat worried about ballbusters in blue.

Can't find anything in on the net news sources!

fugley
05-31-2003, 01:53 PM
Nah don't worry - unless someone shows me a link to a report - I aint gettin restless about this one! Cos believe me if there even just a few arrests it would be major news everywhere!

So unless you know otherwise this really is bullsh*t

fugley
05-31-2003, 02:00 PM
and you can bet yer bottom dollar the actions if any would be in the states!

fabrizzio
05-31-2003, 02:23 PM
the link is

http://www.rtl.nl/(/financien/rtlz/home/)/...gt_op_kazaa.xml (http://www.rtl.nl/(/financien/rtlz/home/)/components/actueel/rtlnieuws/2003/05_mei/30/buitenland/0530_Italie_jaagt_op_kazaa.xml)

It's in dutch but is says that the users have all been fined for the above stated amount.

Thats's some shitty news

fugley
05-31-2003, 02:31 PM
Can anyone find some other sources for this apparently disasterous news?

fabrizzio
05-31-2003, 03:31 PM
Just take my word for it fugley that's it says that. It's disturbing isn't it?
I'm wondering if this will happen in other countries as well.

fugley
05-31-2003, 03:37 PM
Ok Ok! But what is the source of the article - just as there are bad newpaperss who report lies there are even worse net sites! For all we know at the moment that site could be run by anyone, maybe even the film or music industry.

And also I think my point was fair - if this has happened - the message would spread across every media at faster than lightning speed.

The real surprising thing about your string is the little interest it's getting. (apart from me that is)

I wish some other brains would engage!

Bet PB Montgolfier could help - but I think we have to pray or something first!

i know why, as i live here.

It comes from the uniform they used to wear, it was black....

and not very many like the police, so they called them bastards (which is also a derogatory comment, but can also mean a child without a father).

I was just wondering as I had never heard it before. I work in Northern Ireland quite often and as a result have a lot of friends who live there. Is the phrase commonly used, or is it just your immediate peer group.

The past weeks has the Italian police enter done by certain 3000 internet users. They became there, after the 'listen in' with their internet traffic, of suspected that they illegal computer truce exchanged. The fine is in Italy 1032 Euro.

That's the english translation, I would have thought that if 3000 users had been fined it would have reached 'world news' status either that or it is a lie......
How do they listen in with their internet traffic? Sounds BS to me.

Italy tackles users Kazaa

The Italian police force tackles Internet users hard who share files by means of programmes such as Kazaa or Morpheus.

To enter
De afgelopen weken heeft de Italiaanse politie invallen gedaan bij zeker 3000 internetgebruikers. They became there, after ' listen ' with their Internet movement, of they suspected that illegally computer files exchanged. The fine is in Italy 1032 euro.

Copyrights
By means of ' peer-to-peer-programma's ' worldwide music files, films, books and computer software are exchanged. The Italian law prohibits that because of the breach of the copyrights. The possession and use of the uitwisselprogramma's in itself have not been prohibited.

That's the best I can find :P

Still not sure of the validity of the story however....
I'll be using PeerGuardian as usual though B)

Oh and the "Black Bastards" thing, yeah I've heard the phrase used in Irish Rebel music - "You can tell the RUC, Those Black Bastards from Drumcree" for one: So I'll trust that it wasn't racist, but just a regional phrase. Black Bastard round here though tends to be a derogatory term for a different group of people though, so it might be wise not to use the phrase too often ;)

Pigs, Filth, police bastards etc etc might be more appropriate, as surely there's no police here to take offence at this, if there are, then WTF are you doing here, it's illegal to share copyright files. Handcuff yourself, beat yourself round the head with your baton unnecessarily a few times, shoot yourself with a plastic bullet and then drag yourself to the nick, making sure to bang your head on every door that you pass through because you were resisting your self-arrest, and hand yourself in!

I love our local plod, can't you tell ;)

Not calling you a racist now so take a deep breath and relax but,

My family are from Newry (NI) and black bastard is a derogatory term for a Protestant and thats why it could be taken as racist.

Sorry, think this was partly my fault for touching on this subject.

It's not a sectarian word such as "fenian bastard" is an anti-irish sectarian word. Its anti-copper, and there are many on both sides of any sectarian divide, just as there are who do not place themselves on any "side", who hate the police for whatever reason.

**edit** OK, so it was a bad choice of word, nevermind, points have been made, time to move on

And the discussion was about the police, arresting kazaa users, not about the six counties (/me says in an attempt to swing this back on topic and away from a debate which has no relevance here, which has raged for years without conclusion, so is unlikely to be resolved here!)

Im sorry (i dont mean to be rude to you or your family by the way), but this is wrong.
It is used only with reference to the police, mainly by members of the catholic community, but of course from both.
It is also used by racist's to call members of the black community.

yeah ok then, i wont.
i dont like the police still tho
Fair enough. Nice reasonable approach.

If you don't like us that's okay. We get paid for it.
i appreciate you have a job to do man, i understand the community needs you.
you just dont serve them sufficiently...
anyway, sorry on the thread, its all bull shit i think, theres no chance cops will raid peoples houses and charge them 1000 euro !! thats about fucking 800 quid here in the UK!!! [/b][/quote]
As I am sure you will understand there are lots of complex issues. Particularly in divived communities.

Every time you are percieved as serving one part of the community it is seen as a bad thing by the other. Even when what you are trying to do is serve both.

Take for example trying to get young children into School. I don't need to go into the details for you. But there was a no win situation if ever there was one. BTW I am not a cop in Ireland but I can appreciate their difficulties more than most.

no you dont need to go into any details.
i observe the political and social activity in my country avidly, however it sickens me each day what goes on here. I have chosen not to live here anymore (just to let you know). Not only because of this, but it was a small contributing factor to my decision.

Go to the Giants Causeway, stay at the Causeway Hotel. The scenery is magic, it's very like the west coast of Scotland. The people are more hospitable than anywhere else I have ever been. Eat at the Hotel. Perhaps get the mixed grill, but only if you want to suffer death by meat. Maybe visit Bushmills and have a wee look about. It really is well worth a visit

Don't however do what I did on one occasion and get pished in Belfast City Centre, then get lost and have to flag a taxi at 1 in the morning while unable to speak coherently. Having said that i wouldn't advise that in Glasgow, Cardiff or London either.

Does the causeway hotel look directly over the giants causeway?
I've been looking to take the special someone in my life away for a few days on her birthday and you've just given me a great idea.

Edit: Sorry. Very off topic!

The giant's causeway is nice but its not the nicest place to go to in Northern Ireland, its too touristy (its basically a bunch of rocks shaped wierdly incase you didnt know), as is Bushmills.
You want to go to the Ards peninsula, there are some beautiful views there.
Donegal in the Republic of Ireland is also lovely. It is quiet, the views are outstanding, and spending time there with someone special there means a lot. :D
quality time, you know?

yeah thats true it isnt too clever here in Belfast.
And taxis are a near impossibility in the centre at that time.

Bushmills is not a bunch of rocks. That's just you being silly.

The Hotel does not overlook the Causeway itself. However it is only a 5 minute walk. Much as the local dude does not recommend it I do. Make sure you get freshly baked wheaten bread if you do go, like I said the food at the hotel is fabulous.

The Bushmills distillery is only a mile or so away and you can organise a tour, interesting if you like whiskey (with an e - no not ecstacy with drink that´s just stupid)

I don´t see how anyone could mix these two up.

I´m obviously tempted to suggest that while the English Flag was away everything just sorted itself out. But Obviously I won´t.

No we decided to talk about soemthing else when you weren't looking. You should have left soemone in charge.

The MODS have been to busy in intellectual discussion to oversee the board so it has been anarchy the last couple of days.
