What's the deal with TB? I haven't been able to log on in the past 5 days or so.

Some people have had the same problem, but other people are able to log on.

Have they changed their url or something?

note: tb require u to be on an access list to join their irc channel
so if u havent been in before, and sites down, theres no way to join it, as u have to request access when logged into the site.

I hate TB and it`s staff (i have my reasons) , but hey, you kinda fool , they don't work for you, and the donation are DONATIONS and not a payment for service . Just sit and wait till they finish the work .
you also should be grateful for the fact that TB allow ppl with mental disabilities to download 0day stuff despite all the insults they get from them .

Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\ and open the file hosts with wordpad.
Underneath the line:
127.0.0.1 localhost
add the lines:
85.17.40.246 www.torrentbytes.net (http://www.torrentbytes.net/)
85.17.40.247 tracker.torrentbytes.net
and save.

FOR OSX USERS:-
You will need a text editor installed, like Text Wrangler (available here: http://tinyurl.com/53ltf )
1. In Finder, go to Go -> Go To Folder...
2. Type "/private/etc" in that box, press enter
3. Find the file "hosts" with no extension. You may also see "hosts.equiv" and "hosts.lpd". These are not what you need.
4. Ctrl-click "hosts" and go to Open With...-> Textwrangler (or whatever text editor is your favorite)
5. Underneath the line:
127.0.0.1 localhost
add the lines:
85.17.40.246 www.torrentbytes.net (http://www.torrentbytes.net/)
85.17.40.247 tracker.torrentbytes.net
6. Go to File-> Save, and it'll tell you that you have to edit as root. Thats cool, just authenticate it.
Done! As a note, textedit won't work. It saves as a stupid format.

FOR LINUX USERS:-
1. Login as root (Google if you don't know how to do this)
2. Navigate to /etc/
3. Open "hosts" with your favorite text editor (nano, pico, gedit, whateveR)
4. Underneath the line:

add the lines:

Server Issues

As most of you will be aware we are experiencing many server and DNS issues at the moment, so we have decided at this time to take this oportunity to move to 2 new and more powerfull severs which will give the site a better performance in the future.

So unfortunately there will be a little more downtime to come, but it should be the end of it once the move has been completed and the new DNS updates

The planned time for the move is sometime tomorrow (thursday) and once the new servers are online we will update the DNS.

This will mean that all of you who have previously edited your hosts files, the site will eventually stop working for you once the DNS has updated for the new servers (your hosts files will be pointing to the wrong IP).

All you will need to do is once the site stops working, remove any reference to Torrentbytes from your hosts file and sit tight until the DNS has updated fully.

To check your hosts file you will find it located here: C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc/hosts

Just open it with notepad and if you find any reference to TB remove it and then save

Thank you for your patience during these difficult times for the site, and we appologise for any inconvenience caused.
