I am curious, over the last few nights there have various discussions in the Lounge which have became rather heated.

Do these things honestly cause a response in you, i.e. do people get as emotional in real life as they appear to in their posts.

Depending on the topic, yes. For example, that post about hunting the other day.... I was angry & posted exactly how I felt.

Maybe I need to lighten up a little, who knows.

I try not to allow words to upset me too much. There's a lot worse in life to deal with. But thats just the type of person I am.
I dont like it when people post a comment on this board just to get a bad reaction though.

interesting PB !!

I think a lot of people wouldnt react like that in real-life, purely because of the anonymity surrounding the internet, people can say what they want without fear of being opressed in real-life.
its easier on the internet.

personally, i try to stay as calm as possible in real-life and in here, however touchy subjects are a different "kettle of fish", when people emotions are aroused i think they can react wildly....you cant blame them for that.

I feel strongly about what i read, and that is reflected here. You all have minds, and my mind reacts to yours. (Most of you anyway!) When there is human interaction, how can emotional response noe be present? (Counting humor, anger, like, love, lust, etc...)

A very good point well made. Perhaps people can express themselves more freely and release their true feelings because of the anonymity.

It raises another interesting point, in that people may well be able to release pent up emotions here, that they could not in real life. For whatever reason

So the response in the forum is actually greater than it would be elsewhere. However they are genuine emotional responses.

I agree with u there.
I think this, and other forums are a great way of actually getting to know peoples real views, so many people use the internet now they are turning to it for everything, people are becoming more antisocial and so start to socialise on the internet......
bit like outselves
i will admit that i am a shy person in real life, i wouldnt really talk about things in such a way to people i dont know so well, but then an internet community can make people feel accepted i suppose, who think they cant be accepted in real life and so they say truely what they feel....and i like hearing it.
i suppose our society would be better off if we were all sitting in a park talking about all of this tho :D

a lot, yes, but not all.
Ill stay calm in vega / animal discussions [real life] if i didn't i wouldn't have any friends left [all my friend are 'carnivores'] Plus, people just don't understand so its no use to talk about it. I do discus but i don't fight over it.
As for other topics, i think i'm worse in real life, but its way better then 10 years ago, i would have hit people if i thought they provoked me B)
