This is the first problem of its kind which I am facing on leeware. The status bar in µtorrent keeps showing Disk Overloaded xx %. I don't why it is happening. I have only 4 torrents running on my box right now.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

It's because you're checking and downloading at high speed at the same time, do them one by one. Downloading a few at the same might also has the same problem.

Right now, the torrent file has been completely checked, but it still shows Disk Overloaded message. I am only seeding right now. I am also getting poor upload speeds like 100 KB/s. I tried rebooting the VPS, but it didn't solve the problem.

You may not have enough ram in your server.
Ussually this happens when your downloading/uploading too fast for the server to handle.

I deleted the unnecessary .torrent files in the Application Data/utorrent folder and now it is working properly. I will reply back if the problem comes back again.

hmm, with just that 1 download, you shouldn't have the error anymore. Type 'free' to see how much swap you're using (should be very little). I'm assuming you aren't running anything else that might slow down the system. Type 'top' to see all running processes. Perhaps others sharing the same HD with you are overloading it.

Back to square one. It was all right for a while, but now again its overloaded.

You'll have to email Lee to have him restart the server for you.

There is a problem with Leeware today, I was getting the disk overloaded stuff too and the server went down later on.

The speeds have been really bad too and keep spiking and then crashing. There is a problem with the back-end and they should be sorted soon I reckon.

Thanks for the reply ven0m. It is a relief to hear that I am not the only one facing this problem. My speeds are not going above 200 KB/s. Sometimes it goes up to 1 MB/s, but that is only once in a while.

I have 384 ram, usually run ~10 torrents and peakout at about 2.0 sustained(although right now im gettin 3.3)

Yep, exact same thing was happening to mine. The speed was really awful and went up to 1MB/s for a couple of minutes and then crashes down. Eventually I couldn't connect to my box at all. It has just come back up on its own and I'm now getting around 6-700 kb/s and no more overload messages. Try restarting your server, maybe that will do some good. But rest assured you are not the only one having a problem :)

@@@ Update 05/22/2007 -@@@

ISSUE: 000 DEGRADED NETWORK PERFORMANCE

Please be advised there was a DDoS Attack which caused sluggish network performance and
other connectivity issues. I've been working with the datacenter to get it resolved
and everything should be back to normal now. If you are still having problems please
see http://www.leeware.com/support.html for how to make a support request and send it
to the admin address.

I've experienced disk overload today and the cause was download speed too high against the size of pieces (in utorrent, you can see the size and the # of pieces in the general tab - bottom right). It was 8MB/s down with a piece's size at 1 MB. Just something to watch out for when you encounter this problem.

I'm getting the disk overloaded problem today. Is it worth requesting a restart??

EDIT: Limited DL to 1mb and increased cache to 64mb... Workin ok now...

I also got this today. I was downloading a torrent at 4 MB/s and seeding at the same time at 3 MB/s, but suddenly the upload speed dropped to about 100 kB/s and disk overloaded message started coming. After the download completed, the disk overloaded message stopped. Guess we have to live with this. :( We get what we pay for.

Anybody else that has got disk overload all the time the last couple of days?

I cant upload anything when i keep getting disk overload

Any solution to this?

We get what we pay for.
:yup:
leeware is cheap, and its cheap for a reason
disk overload is mainly caused by poor cache settings, or just a lack or ram
happens particularly when downloading/uploading at high speeds at the same time
i get it occasionally when uploading/download both over 8-9MB/s, but i dont have a cheap leeware vps

if ur getting those problems at 2-3MB/s then "you get what you pay for"

I know, but it work fine before

But then the other day is began that disk overload thing

Anyone else hav this problem, with Leeware?

I haven't had this problem... I'm gonna load a torrent on it to see what happens.

Update: I'm downloading at 5MB/s, uploading at 3MB/s on my leeware, no disk overload. I guess you're just on a bad node :/

How do you remove the .torrent files that are not being used? And how can you completely clean it (just leave the necessary programs to make it work)?

10x in advance

I "bought" my Leeware today and I'm downloading at about 6 mb/s and peaked 7.4 mb/s up today at a torrent with many leechers.
No problems at all :)

same problem with me, limit you download speed and is better because you upload is more fast in same time

If someone has already mentioned this before then my bad. Usually disk overloads occur because one the computer specs are not good...think about it 6MB/s is a lot for some computers to take and two if there are many people to a server like on leeware (3 people i think it is to a server) then ofcourse the computer is evenly shared to each person so this means there is a higher chance of disk overload happening on a shared computer. Peace out people!!!!!

Summary:- Get mid range spec server and DEDICATED!!!!
