Ok but I read in the FAQ that utorrent 1.6.1 was rejected by many seeders and leechers.... So 1.6 is ok then?

BitMeTV client support/help is limited to these clients:

Client Stable Version Beta Version Runs on Windows Run On MAC Runs on Linux Azureus 2.5.0.4
No. See Zodeus
Yes Yes Yes rTorrent/libtorrent Newest Stable No
No Possibly Yes

A word of warning:
We have allowed certain beta clients by popular demand however it is important to realize a beta client is NOT just a new feature release it is a client that has not been tested properly yet. If you opt to run the latest beta you do so AT YOUR OWN RISK and will be given ZERO leniency if it does something wrong and get YOU banned. Again so there is no doubt, by using a BETA client you are placing all your trust in the client developer. If the BETA messes up you WILL be banned. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Please do not request additions to this list. Additions are decided internally within BitMeTV staff.

Banned Clients

Banned clients are torrent clients that are NOT allowed to be used on BitMeTV.

Anyone found to be using a banned client will receive a warning (at a minimum), but more likely will be banned.
If you find you client is banned STOP using it. DO NOT keep our torrents running with a banned client as it just puts pointless load on the tracker. We do log these fails against your account and if you accumulate enough of them you will be banned.

The following specific clients are banned:

Client Reason ABC Randomly reports bad stats to the tracker BitLord Based on old buggy BitComet code. burst! No longer maintained. eXeem Not a proper Torrent client. Shareazza Not a proper Torrent client. G3 Consistantly reports bad stats to the tracker. BitSpirit Randomly sends DHT packets to its own public tracker. eDonkey2000 Not a proper Torrent client. Turbo Torrent Rumoured to do bad things. BinTorrent Users caught cheating with this client. Torrentstorm Development and bug fixes ceased 30th March 2005. BitComet Very very popular client but EVERY version reports bad stats to the tracker and many leak to DHT. XBT Client By default does not identify itself on the swarm or can be configured to pretend to be another client. Qtorrent Does not identify itself correctly and gets caught by another client ban. CTorrent and clones Communicates with the tracker incorrectly (aka not following BT spec). ed2k Not a proper Torrent client. MLdonkey Not a proper Torrent client. Shadows No longer developed Opera Not a proper Torrent client. Ziptorrent Does not identify itself correctly (specifically it lacks version number). Being used principaly by spoofers, taking advantage of this bad code decision. Acquisition Not a proper Torrent client. Rufus Constantly reports bad stats to tracker. Bittorrent++ Does not uniquely identify itself. Torrent Station Does not uniquely dentify itself. Xtorrent
Developers have a policy of removing negative client comments i.e. hiding bugs from public view.
BitRocket
Does not follow the torrent client identifcation specs.
Mainline (BitTorrent)
Horrible version control requiring users to update and downgrade far to often. Reported problems with V5 stable. Becoming to commercial. MAC version development stalled. Superior clients available on all platforms.
Bits On Wheels
Developement stopped. No new client or bug fixes for over one year. Official forum full of spam and developer last posted in 2005. Client dead.
Transmission
This client has been banned for months but was not added to this list by mistake. Bad tracker communications
Deluge
This client is unknown to us. It may be unbanned if a member takes responsibilty for keeping us up to date on the development and bug reports.
<<>>qBittorrent> Poorly coded client identification
Limewire
Not a proper Torrent client. Zudeo
There is no such thing as Azureus 3. This is at best an abuse of the GPL license and at worse a complete spoof.
Arctic
Does not identify itself correctly.

The following types of clients are also banned:
Old and out of date clients.
Beta clients unless listed in the supported client section.
Homemade and/or DIY clients are ABSOLUTELY not allowed.
SVN/CVS build clients
Clients without an offical maintained homepage.
Clients not EASILY available to the public via the official homepage.

Other Client Specific Information

rTorrent/libtorrent
This client and GUI are released as a pair - do not update one and not the other. Trying to bypass client bans in this way is an instantly bannable offence. If in doubt ASK.
Bittornado
It is STRONGLY recommended Windows users DONT use Bittornado as it is inferior to Azureus or other acceptable client. If you should choose to use BitTornado, the only allowed version is: 0.3.17
Zodeus
This client is official and uses the Azureus beta code. However as the developers have overlooked changing how i identifys it shows itself as Azureus a.k.a it spoofs. This is one of the reasons Azureus beta is banned for the short term until this confusion is sorted out.
uTorrent
Version 1.6 has a security hole that effects public trackers. Great debate is taking place about newer versions and who now owns the client. One thing is for sure if you use 1.6.1 or newer expect many users to reject seeding to or downloading from you outright.

Other Clients

If a client is not listed as Supported, Banned or Considered for Banning it falls into this category.

We DO NOT Endorse and DO NOT offer Support for these clients.

These clients MAY work on this site however your mileage may vary and we make no guarantees of current or future applicability.
