or to break it down into more simple terms, a seedbox is a server on a highspeed backbone (a fast network connection).So the upload and download speeds achieved by the server are far faster than your home connection. The advantage is of course that if you are early in a newly uploaded torrent the server becomes a superseeder in the torrent swarm (the swarm will always connect to the fastest sources first). You can then get torrents that you may not necessarily be interested in, but you know will be popular and seed them from the server (sacrificial torrents, ones you have no intention of using). Or if you wish to download the content you access the server via ftp and download the files you wish to keep. The other advantage of course of a seedbox is all this network activity is not on your PC, so you can turn it off if you wish and still continue seeding and of course you get your bandwidth back for normal activities.
