I'm sitting on another computer at a friend's now and it doesn't work anymore, though the isp is the same. It probably comes down to resolving the domain name as the name servers don't work anymore. The only explanation I have is that the (local, private) proxy I use at home was covering this issue by using its cache/dnscache. In the end, the tracker is down and it probably only worked because I got some crazy stuff from my proxy.

Sorry for talking crap ;)

Does anyone know how to contact them?

Melvinmeow
06-17-2007, 12:56 PM
From what I have been told... there was only 1 main person who had complete access to the server. That person may be away on vacation or just not within contact to know the sites down??? Whenever that person comes back they beleive the site will be working. Thats what I have heard dont know much other than that.

What you have to consider is that TPG is a different type of site from FST in many ways. TPG is not a place to spam or trade invites, it is really more of an information service. I like to check it out to keep up to date on what's happening in the BT world from those that know - the staff.

Have no doubt, whatever problems they currently have will be resolved and they will be back.

True that! TPG has/had forums for almost each private torrent site. there are alot of private tracker staff that stop by often on that site so getting help was easy

(I do not know the validity of this) Someone who is in direct communication (again supposedly) has informed me that the owner of TPG was attempting to hand over TPG for some time but after learning TPG was being used by certain “group” for tracking and gathering internal information took it offline for safety purposes of the BT community. (Specifically ftp servers (topsites), private groups who were directly involved into many currently existing top BT private sites, etc…). I was told there were some internal staff issues were going on too due to information leakage.

Again this is not something I have heard from the owner my self but through a third party.

What a load of bollocks. The site is down because the owner is on vacation and doesn't know that it is down.

Rumours like that is what can destroy a reputation, and are best left unsaid unless you have solid evidence to back your claim.

A big site like that can't just disappear with no information or a reason....

There is really nothing out there on what happened? I don't think the owners on vacation and doesn't know it's down. Someone would've contacted them by now about it.

To be honest. vacation to me woud be locking myself in a room full of servers, haha.

Does anyone know any of the staff on that site that can get some credible information?

seppypom
07-16-2007, 04:55 PM
Staff does not know, as of Saturday, they said they still can not reach the owner. So its still a Mystery.

Zeus
07-16-2007, 06:19 PM
Well it's been about a month now so I doubt it's all due to the owner being on vacation... I suppose it's possible the guy who runs it decided to call it quits and pulled the plug, although why he wouldnt tell anyone I dont know. Maybe there were some troubles behind the scene that we don't know about. I hope I'm wrong and it will be back soon.

ACiD
07-16-2007, 06:43 PM
As far as we know the person who looks after the server is MIA, no one can reach him. I am not too sure why no one else has put up a temp server or anything in the meantime though.

It sucks, I miss wasting time at work posting on TPG.. :-(

This information is 100% incorrect.

A few people have now been informed of the real reason why its been down so long. Doesnt have to do with leaks or anything of that sort as well.

I am not elligible to give the exact reason its down but based on what Ive seen elsewhere the sites down until further notice.
Wish I could give the exact reason but I wont.

To confirm its only down for the time being you can refer to the TPG irc channel as well.

Well in this case the info is false at this time. The real reason is something we can not give out. Down the road they might close it for good or maybe someone else takes it on. But untill then dont beleave anything you hear as its all B.S unless a TPG Staff says so.

The person in charge of the server has passed away. This happened some time back, but I believe things are coming to a head.
