I need a new 3D Card, to upgrade my MX440 and I'll probably get one in September. The Fx5900 is around the equivalent of 300 dollars more then the 5600...On Nvidias page, they have a list of games that are being based around each cards technology. The 5900 has games on there like Doom 3, Thief 3, Tomb raider: TAOD Stalker, XIII, Abducted etc

while the 5600's games are things like CS: Condition Zero, Splinter Cell, Unreal 2, etc... Is the Fx5900 seriously much much better then the FX5600, does it mean that no 5900 game will run on the 5600 card? Shold I get the 5600, which alot of people say is good, besides the fan, or get an FX5900...Also, could you tell me if:

1) Both cards need 2 slots (AGP and PCI)
2) Both have VIVO
3) which one I should get...

Whats going down with the 5800's are they good? They aren't really listed on the Nvidia webpage, how much of a difference are they between the 5600 and 5900?

I can get a 5600 for around 200 dollars while the 5900 is 500 dollars approximatly.

I can't relly help you, as I've always gone with ATI cards, but to just reassure you here... no game developer is stupid enough to shoot themselves in the foot by developing their game to work on only the highest-end video cards. DOOM 3 will work on the 5600 guaranteed, but there may be some very minor graphical features that won't be available.

Doom 3 the final release will run on all GeForce after all the 5900 is what gave it those extremely good shadowing. well i duno abuot the lower MX but the Ti and FX's should be able to run it. of course the lower grade Video Card u have the less the graphics are gonna look like in the Demo Preview.

Is the FX5600 a good card? Has the 5800 been discontinued cuz I can't find it on Nvidia's website. If I got the 5600, would I need like, a separate power supply and 2 slots, AGP and PCI etc.

Although im a ATI fan, ill throw in my two cents. The Fx5600 isnt a great card(benchmarked worse than the 9700 pro) and is like a blower. The Fx5900 is a tight card-its fast, not a blower and beats the hell out of the 9800 pro. :) be seeing you\
