So, your brother's in-laws wanted a photograph of you.

Why.

DefX

Yellow-Green is the most visible color out of all colors out there.

No, it isn't.

It is according to this article:

2) Chartreuse is the most visible color.

Yellow-green, chartreuse, sits right in the middle of the frequencies of visible light. Your eyes have receptors for blue, green and red. Being in the middle, yellow-green triggers the most of these receptors to fire, making it easy to spot. In some cities, firetrucks have been changed from red to a yellow-green color to make them more visible.

Snee

According to what I've read, pure, bright lemon-yellow is the most visible colour.

I'm almost certain the reason the reason you'd want to use a bit of green in it has more to do with taking the edge off the yellow. Seeing as how yellow strains the eyes.

It (yellow being more visible) has to do with how yellow contrasts with different settings and colours more than with how many receptors detect it.

Well, with or without the ', it still didnt say my brother in law wanted a pic.

They saw me a very long time ago, and i've changed in my appearance a lot since that time. No idea why they want it, and all my old pics were when i had drug problems and was very skinny/pale/panda=eyed, so the Spanish one wouldnt let me send one of thse.

Ok?

When something is that badly written one has to make a best guess at what the writer was trying to convey. In this instance and given the context a badly spelt "brother-in-law" seemed the most likely. Him wanting a photograph of you was bizarre, however the alternative that your brother's wife's parents wanted one seemed even stranger.

That is what I thought - actually I simply did the owl expression rather than think as such but it is much the same sort of thing.

I quite like mouche- (or monroe-) style piercings on women (makes blokes look like smacktards, though), but it sort of requires that you find chicks with piercings and tats and such attractive in the first place.

In addition to that they don't get in the way or get stuck on things easily (which may be a problem with piercings really close to your mouth), while it isn't that common (at least not here). Nowadays a hell of a lot of (really annoying) people have pierced nostrils or eyebrows and such.

Furthermore it's not quite such a bastard to heal as pierced cartilage like in most of your ears (c.f. Lynne's post). Some piercings never cease to look nasty to me, and a huge part of that is because they constantly come in contact with things or just never heal at all, and never cease to look irritated or infected. A nostril piercing or something oozing pus is seriously unattractive.

I'd love a nasal septum piercing, but I imagine it'd feel like you had constant crusties dangling out.

Nasal piercings just look wrong to me. Makes me think of cattle or something. I think some seriously weird S&M-people, with emphasis on the "M" get them. To be lead around by :dabs: The best thing I can say about it is that I guess it's good for shocking people, and it's not quite as stupid as something like a smiley.

Anyways, whatever she gets, I hope she gets it because she thinks it looks good and fits her personality or something. Anyways, whatever she gets, I hope she gets it because she thinks it looks good and fits her personality or something. Some people get piercings or tats just to show how different they are, or to shock people, and that isn't smart seeing as they have to live with them after the novelty has worn off.

Fair point she doesn't even have her ears pierced yet. She has always managed to be quite, quite different without any embellishments. In some ways the hair and what not might help her seem less spooky and more mainstream weird. If that makes sence.

My first tatt was a mix of pure impulse and something to do for a larf while a friend got his tongue pierced. I think a bit of peer pressure may have been involved too.

Me Ma got Thumper on her thigh a few years after I had me first ones done.
It looks ghey as.

My hoor of an aunt stole me at about a year old and got my ears pierced.

Stayed with my Grandparents back when and they never removed the earrings. When my Pa remarried, I was about 7/8, and my stepmum had to dig the studs out with needles. Not nice.

I reckon something everyone who gets a tat or a piercing should do, is to try and imagine themselves twenty or thirty years from now, and how it's going to fit them then.

Having worked at a hospital and stuff, I know exactly how silly what must have been a really cool tat once upon a time might look on an old lady, or bloke.

I NEVER UNDERSTOOD THIS ARGUMENT.

When I'm old I'll be ugly anyway, what harm's a little tattoo going to do when I'm already fat and wrinkly. It's not like it's going to get hairy and grow a vagina or something.

Besides, I personally respect old codgers with piercings and tattoos, still smoking joints and swearing like they did at 15. Permed grannies, knitting in their comfy chairs all wrapped up in their pastel cardigans are creepy.

Imagine the picture of me at the beginning of this thread, with a silver nose stud and a small, decorative semi-moon on the back of the neck.

I don't think I've ever seen that exact combination before, but here's the thing: Just this last month I've seen girls with orange, red, indigo and blue hair. I've seen them with hair dyed black, with dreadlocks of fake purple hair woven in together with bits of white cloth. I've seen them with pierced lips, noses, ears and so forth. And all the pierced ones had jewelry made from silver or chromed surgical steel (it looked like), some with what was probably polished bits of glass or zirconium at the tip of studs. (Whatever happened to stuff made of gold or something?)

I've seen women with suns and moons and roses tattooed. In short, I've seen all the addons you have or are interested in, although not at once, as far as I can recall. And to be honest, after a while all of them with their artificial hair colours and their generic piercings sort of start to blend together. So if I'd seen you walk past me on the street, you'd just have been one among many, as far as those aspects of your personal style went.

So (again) in short, I'd not consider you unique in that respect.

But this is here and that is there. Maybe people in Britain don't look that way.

Purely aesthetically, tho', it's all right. And you aren't supposed to do it just to be different anyways, so who cares if some people look like you.

I have to say, though, that the hair alone, without piercings, tattoos and no more make-up than what you are wearing on that photo (if anything) would probably make me, personally, notice you more. Sometimes, it feels as if all the things a lot of the ones I described put on take away the person behind them, if that makes sense, and that's what lends them that sameness.

 @ grow a vagina!

Go for the nose piercing. A tiny hoop would look lovely on you, I think.

I've always thought that girls with ears that are not pierced are really cool, so I'd leave those as they are.

Seriously Les, if she's got a hoop it'll only leave the tiniest scar if she wants to take it out. You might as well let her have it and make sure it's done proper instead of having her go to some charlatan who uses a stud gun to pierce noses
It's not like it's going to be a permanent fixture. If she doesn't like it anymore she can just take it out

My point is, a nose piercing isn't going to make that big a difference and the sun and moon tattoos I'm planning aren't even going to be in full view. Before I just looked like another normal person, so what's so bad about looking like another goth girl? Humans all look the same anyway. No matter what I do, I won't ever be more of an individual than I already am, so if dyeing my hair and making a hole in my nose makes me happier, why not?

Indeed. I'm really no trying to talk you out of it. If you do it to be yourself, it's kewl.

I'd go for something subtle, though (which seems to be what you had in mind anyways), a lot of the people I described had stuff on that sort of dominated their features, so if I'd have been asked to described them right after I'd met them, all I'd remembered was half a hardware store and purple hair, like.
