I'm going to be selling my PC through a local newspaper, or possibly ebay, and I'm wondering; (about) how much should I ask for it?

Its a Compaq Presario, one year old.
Things with an "**" are brand new (things I added on)

--------------------------------------
1.2Ghz AMD CPU**
100GB Hard Drive**
52x CDRW**
16x DVDrom
Radeon 7000 64MB GFX Card**
256DDR Memory
17" Flat Screen Monitor, with mic and speakers
Compaq Inkjet Printer
Mouse and keyboard, modem and ethernet of course
Windows XP Pro** (Legal!!!)
Some good software (Word, Excell)

-------------------------------------------

So, um, yeah, how much do you think?

is it an amd athlon or a duron as this will greatly affect the price as athlons are alot better than durons

Unless you have an LCD monitor you probably won't get more than $200-300 for it....

I say this because in a lot of peoples' minds, new is better than used. No matter how old you state the PC is.

That, and the fact that new PC packages can be had for less than $500-600.

It actually might be wiser to sell it in parts...

That's my opinion if you're in the US. This may not be so true elsewhere.

Good luck with it.

Is that "1.2Ghz AMD CPU" an ATHALON 1600?

I'll break down the prices from what I have seen at the used computer show.

1.2Ghz AMD CPU** $120.00
100GB Hard Drive** $80.00
52x CDRW** $50.00
16x DVDrom $20.00
Radeon 7000 64MB GFX Card** $45.00
256DDR Memory $60.00
17" Flat Screen Monitor, with mic and speakers $80.00
Compaq Inkjet Printer $40.00
Mouse and keyboard, modem and ethernet of course $30.00
Windows XP Pro** (Legal!!!) $149.00
Some good software (Word, Excell) $150.00

These prices are somewhat accurate. Or atleast what I'd pay for seperate items. The software (if legal is more expensive than anything else)

$824.00 Damn! That's too much! But it seems to be a fair price.

I have seen bare bones PCs last week for $450.00. That include Pentium4 2.6gHz, 80GB hard drives, 512DDR RAM, 64MB Video, etc...... I cannot build them that cheap anymore. :( :(

Thanks for those prices, but some seem to be prices of new ones.

All in all, even before coming to this board, for the past month or so Ive been planning (HOPING/PRAYING) that I can sell it for around $450. Then I'd be very happy.
