not really...the recomended RAM is 256 and "min" is 128 (i think) so youll be lucky

to be honest, Id put 98se on it, should work a lot nicer :)

700Mhz not bad for the job, but not best for it ether
id get more ram and a biggger hdd. Windows 2000 would be best on that as 98 has blue screasn comming out of its ears. (I got 98 and id never recomend it)

700mhz procceser
64mb Ram
20gb hard Drive

that aint bad, what graphic card you running? Ive got a friend running XP on 600mhz 128mb ram 20gb hard drive and he has no problem. Just make sure you dont have XP running with all the really cool theme settings that use up loads of ram. Try to get another load of RAM, 64mb or 128mb. I would recommend going back down to windows 98se, windows 2000 sucks big time and 98se second best microsoft operating system apart from XP that microsoft have. Hope some of that helps.

I actually bought 256mb ram the other day but it isn't compatible with my computer because my motherboard uses 100mhz sdram and this 133mhz :(

it was my understanding that pc133 was backwards compatible with pc100 boards. it will only run at 100MHz, but should be compatible.

also, you can decrease visual effects in xp by right clicking on "my computer", selcting properties, advanced tab then click on settings under the perfomance header.
then click on "adjust for best performance" and windows should run a little faster

yeah, coz i got pc133 in my old amd k6-2 system and it runs a 100mhz.

and i recently put a 133 stick in my g/f computer and it was only running at 100, it can run at 133 but the other ram is pretty shit and get errors.

There is no problem running 133 ram at 100. Also there are plenty of tweaks you can do to speed up XP. Search Google and you will find plenty of guides.

I once installed win xp home on my mates back up pc which was a pentium 1 166mhz MMX with 64mb EDO ram before but i have to say it was quite slow

Per the M$ website:

Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Home/Pro Edition:

PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.*
Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor
CD-ROM or DVD drive
Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

While pc133 memory will run on a lot of mobos with a bus speed of 100mHz, some brands of memory are not so backwards compatible. Notably on Compaq PCs, as I've experienced this first hand.

Try Windows ME or 2000... both better than 98.. 2000 has few problems with games and ME doesnt support alot of hardware automaticly.

You gotta be kidding!

700mHz is plenty enough for XP! As long as it is at least a Pentium III (even works on PentiumII). AND that you have 128mb of RAM, or higher. Finally, your motherboard should support fast speed bus, cache, etc...........

"Celeron & DURON" blow.

The PC I have (at work) is a PIII 500mHz, on an old used Gateway motherboard with the old style 128MB RAM . I run XP Corp with NO PROBLEM. I even play Unreal Tournament at lunch time. Watch a few DIVX movies too.

--edited--

Plus I have a lot of other sh!t connected to this PC too, like:
- external burner
- ZIP drive
- Internal burner
- Scanner
- Photo printer
- Lexmark printer
- Firewire card (for ext. burner)
- ethernet card
- 56k modem
- drivers for 2 kinds of digital cameras
- 10 GB hard drive
- 3GB slave Hard Drive

XP still runs smoothe

Simple answer: The 64mbRAM is a Killer for XP. Very memory hungry system. Apart from that should be ok.
