Check this theme (http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?comments=1&id=17644) out. It's really, really cool. Kinda like an updated Windows Classic. Not at all toy-ish and very suitable for day to day use. To those that don't know you'll need either Style XP (http://www.tgtsoft.com/) (keygen easily found from astalavista or the UXTheme patch, available at www.lightstar1.com (http://www.lightstar1.com/), to use it. I recommend the latter.

This and crystal (http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=16288) are the only visual styles, i've found, that i really like.

If anyone else has favourites please post them.

Nah thanks mate. I don't want to skin XP, i'd rather use windows own shell. What i like about this theme is the simplicity of it, it looks like an operating system, instead of a toy.

Sure though, if you want an XMan skin, use wincustomize. ;)

Oh, you're welcome mate. Tell me, what's your favourite visual style?

I find that most of those from Theme XP aren't that great.

I use CrystalBlue

You don't really need Style XP from TGTSoft to use Visual Styles other than Windows XP (Luna), all you need is the freeware UXTHEME.DLL patcher and you're ready to go! I have tested all of the following methods with success on several different systems, but in some rare cases the Automatic Patching method may not work.

I use CrystalBlue

Hi {I}{K}{E}. I used to use that same theme. Now though, i find it so chunky compared to those with the thin taskbar, such as b0seclass. Did you check it out mate? If so, what did you think of it?

yxuz. Let us know if you still have problems. Make sure that you install your themes to C:Windows>Resources>Themes.

Any one else have a recommendation?

I use the deep blue longhorn mixed with spectra background and fading effects. Very simple, yet cool and easy on the eyes (not freaking bright).

I'm currently using MSN6i over @ themexp.com with the Plex V4 Longhorn sidebar. I LOVE IT!! It's really clean and goes perfect with all the other XP apps such as WMP 9. B)

Once you've installed to your c:......themes folder, click on the msstyles file there. This will bring up the display properties window.

gumbydancin, that does look sweet. I'll check it out. Cheers bro.

yxuz. Did you install stylexp or the uxtheme patch linked in the thread starter?

be_man31. In Display Properties, try looking under Appearance rather than Themes.

Metrostars. I think that for those who use an operating system such as '98 or 2000, windowsblinds is great. Otherwise, personally, i don't see the point in having an unneeded application running.

Your theme looks similar to this one (http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=20425)which only needs the uxtheme patch previously linked to use.

liquid> I know I did that also! I forgot to mention this is a themeXP theme I am trying to load, I don't know if that makes a differance. after I run the patch.exe do I have to manually place anything anywhere? I auto installed the patch.

Hmm, don't know what is causing your problem mate. Try uninstalling then reinstalling the patch. Note also the two versions of patch. One for XP with Service Pack 1, one for without.

Oh, you are using XP i take it?
