How do I make a 713 meg file fit on a 700 meg disc?

Anybody?

Is it a CD-Image file? If so, just burn it. It'll fit on the disc.

Ive fit 825 megs on a regular cdr before, you might even be able to fit more dunno.Make sure your burning program has overburn and make sure its enabled my personal preference is nero it does just about everything you will ever need a burning prog to do for ya.

If it is not in ISO format already you can use a cool little program called WinISO. with this you can create an ISO file from any files, in any directory you have. It also extracts ISO's so you can run them from your Hard drive instead of CD drive.
WinISO also can create and extract BIN. files.
Another cool program along the same lines is Daemon Tools. with this you can create a virtual CD ROM drive as part of your Hard drive partition. Once you set Daemon up you can create a new CD Drive, I have I:\ and J:\ now then mount your CD game or what ever program you want from a real disk onto your new virtual CD drive once mounted, you can take your real CD out of your real CD ROM drive and run your program without the need to have your real CD in the drive. Daemon Tools also lets you mount those ISO, BIN, and CUE files you just finished downloading onto the virtual CD drive so there is no need to burn your ISO's to a disk in order to use them unless you want to, and the ISO is not extracted like WinISO will do. So with these 2 tools you can do pretty much what you need with your ISO, BIN, and CUE files.

and if you dont wanna do all the above and the file is a movie file you could always cut some of the file out to reduce the size like cut the start or end credits off if there is any...

Its a movie file, so can it be made into an ISO or other type of file? Once its made into an ISO file, can it be changed back into a movie file by using the same program (WinISO)? What I want to do is transfer it to another computer.

and what program should I use to cut out credits?

When it just doesn't quite fit, I've used winzip compression to shave off a bit. It may or may not work for 13mb depending on the file type, but if it does it is probably the easiest and fastest way to go.

Well my CDR's seem to max at 703mb, I now have 3 files that have only made me coasters. I tried using Nero and over writing, but that didn't work either.

I have used JFuse to spilt larger mpeg files into 2 discs, but it dosen't work on my other computer. Any other good splittersI might find at SR.

Also what programs work well for trimming an avi file.

I will try to zip and see if that helps.

What's your point Dapadipz? The used space on your disk is 693mb. There are 1024 kilobytes in a megabite. Do the math: 727560192/1024=710508 kilobytes, 710508/1024=693,85546875 Megabytes

vdub is an old fav for cutting avi files
tmpeg can cut mpeg files (not my fav)
m2-edit can cut mpeg files
mpeg2cut can cut mpeg files(ive found this will cut anything m2-edit wont)
or the most recent one i have found is
Easy Video Splitter it can cut avi and mpeg files but seems to use the most resources of the lot on my pc..maybe not on other ppls..my suggestion is to use this 1st and if ya dont like it go for one of the others...i have only used Easy Video Splitter a few times cause ive had it for only 4 days and i havent done much testing with it,but the few files i have cut with it seem fine..
Easy Video Splitter is the easiest of the lot cause all it does is cut the file as is,you dont need to do any settings other than what size and how many parts you want to end up with..

Thanks for the tips, I will add that one of the files I was having problems with being larger that the actual 703mb disc had an actual size 738mb, as this can always be confusing.

I used WinRAR on one and it dropped it from 704mb to 695mb, which was a quick fix. Problem is it now has to be extracted to be watched which takes about 10 minutes. It also dumps a temp file onto the system while running.

If its a program or game its NOT over 700MB even though it may say that its NOT. use the burn image option in all software and you will see its under 700MB...the extra MB came when the ISO or BIN was made

Thanks for the info.

Tried "Easy Video Splitter". Although a simple interface, it didn't work - on three different movies in both automatic & manual mode. The first time got an error message (error in "CHECK2.DLL"); the second attempt only gave half a movie (what happened to the other one? who knows?); the third time, the second half's audio & video was out of synch.

So I'll try one of the other ones.

the simple'st way is to use roxio easy cd 6

ie-you wan't to burn 800mb/1gb/10gb/more, of movie's or any type of data to cd that only have 703mb of space.so you can transport to a another computor or keep as back up

install roxio easy cd/dvd 6 go to creator classics and follow the instruction's

you can create multiple disc's (AS MANY AS YOU NEED)

BUT REMEMBER THE OTHER COMPUTOR MUST HAVE ROXIO EASY CD/DVD 6 TO
COMPILE THE DISC'S INTO THERE ORIGINAL FORMAT
