The Riaa isn't what's going to end kazaa. It's when people stop sharing their files to be safe. I know that's probably the thing to do but it's going to be the downfall of Kazaa :o

Well at the moment there are a trillion shared files available.

at the moment there are trillions of files available.. yes.... but look at the number of files on kazaa and compare it to the number of users. Then do the same thing next week and you'll notice a drop

Just use the privacy patch that way your still sharing but know one will know, problem solved.

If everyone in the usa used this patch it would make the Riaa`s job very hard and they really would be snookerd!!! :D

it may not as: they can still trace who they have download certain files from, even if u have this patch and if they cannot see your shared folder they may suspect you hiding files, etc
Are the RIAA just targeting USA file sharers or is it more globalised?

i dont waste my time worrying about the RIAA like u guys do. They have no rights to fuck us, period.

BTW RIAA is not a legit agency, they are bound to be taken down and raped by all the file sharers in the world. (AND UP THE ASS TOO!!!)

But there are "stories" of them arresting people outside of the US, and whatever we all say, we are in breach of copyright laws and they have the power to act on this.

The RIAA has no right to touch us?????? WTF are you people saying??? We have no right to steal MP3's. The RIAA has every right to do what thy're doing to catch "law breakers" like ourselves. So to all you people that say the RIAA is nothing and can't do anything you better read up on what a copyright is.

We dont steal anything! in order to steal something you have to permanently deprive someone of something and as we are only making a copy of something someone has already paid for (i.e sharing) alls we are doing is breaking copy right laws.

Let me touch on a few things here...

The privacy patch stops others from being able to browse your entire shared list, nothing else. If the RIAA downloads a copyrighted song from you, then they will prosecute.

Over 126 countries have signed international treaties which make copyright violations illegal. This means you are at risk if you trade files in virtually any country. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but they are rare.

Finally, my definition of stealing doesn't matter, its the laws which are on the books that matter. In this case, stealing or distributing copyrighted material (intellectual property) is illegal. The courts can only follow the laws that are written. B)

It is abit of a grey area but i know in my country (u.k) it isnt classed as theft only breaking copy right laws which are country dont seem too botherd about on less your selling the stuff!
