Most people think that your rating goes by the size of your shared folder or the # of files.... it doesn't. It goes by the percentage your shared folder takes up on your hard drive and that just isn't fair and should be changed. A higher rating generally means better priority and faster downloads. I have over 400 files on the kazaa network and because of my hard drive size (80gig) my rating is only 140???
That's not right.

nope your wroung this is how it work when you download it goes down when some one uploads it goes up so the more you download the more uploads its just a way to keep you sharing by making you share or your level stay low if you dont

Its not that either.

Its a complicated formula that takes into acount how much you download v how much you upload in certain time frame.

Most of us agree that its unfair, which is why we use the PL1000 cheat, built into K++. This gives us permanent PL1000, and also disregards the PL of those uploading from us, its back to 1st come 1st served.

EDIT: Must type faster :P

According to Paul (who should know), your number will also change depending on the day of the week. The max you can get is 21,100.
How this number is generated is mind-bogglingly weird and really has almost nothing to do with your actual level of participation.

I don't get that...I spent a week and 1/2 dl'ing Matrix 2, but my most popular file still seems to be something like 'Ghost Ship' or 'Resident Evil'. How does that work out?
