but if my dvd player only supports vcd do i have to encode it differently than what i normally would. i use tmpgenc if that makes any difference.

you could just watch it on your pc :D or get a pc to tv cable(which is what i use as my dvd player is crap)

i guess i could but i'm one of those people that can't stand watching movies on a computer.

but with that cable you recommended. how long are they made. is it just standard a/v connections? are any made for 5.1 stereo? about how much do they cost?

well i assuem ur graphics card has tv out which may be s video. therefore u firstly need an s video cable.

in the uk the longest i have seen is 15 metres or sommin
just search ebay or somthing

then u need audio cables now i dnt know what thyey r called i think phono to phono and i have only seen them to be arouind 1.5 metres but someone else may know better
