hi, can any one help please, i have just downloaded a movie, it will play in media player but no picture or sound, it says it is a dvd rip.
Any ideas why i cant play it?

if the extension is .avi then it probably has a codec on it. its usually done with Xvid or Divx. they are available everywhere. it simply decompresses it and plays it. if its an extension that windows media player doesn't read then you need to try a different player.

tried a few players nothing seems to play it, i have downloaded another movie and that plays fine
