i believe that Germany (2002 beaten finalists and hosts for 2006) will win the world cup.

look here at the pyramid:

1986 Argentina
1990 Germany
1994 Brazil
1998 France
2002 Brazil
2006 ?

i'm not saying it's rigged, must be fate.
so that's Germany for 2006 and Argentina for Africa 2010

;)

the Pyramid is wrong - last time the pyramid appeared was '98 when England should have been champions

most teams have gone a bit crap but France are coming back with a new coach - if they don't pull it together i'm gonna say Brazil, my outsider bet is Turkey

Hosts get to the final 50% of the time and win it about 35% of the time so the smart money is on germany. (though the odds will probably be fairly crap) . Countries from the same continent often do better so European teams are good bets (Brazil is the only country to win it on another continent) . So I'd put my money on an Italy v Germany final and Italy to win.

My money is on ITALY. They have a good team with a mixture of youth and experience plus a really good defence and they've won it before (1982) so we know they're capable of going all the way. ;)

when italy played their opening game vs ecuador, they were on fire in the first 20 mins, played great football and went 2-0 up. but then they just sat back, and i was dissapointed.

i was SO happy when south korea knocked them out!
and it will be the same the next time ;)

turkey euro 96 out with no goals no points
turkey world cup 98 beat holland belguim just edged us qualifing
euro2000 we went to quarter finals
world cup2002 thrid place

i think you mean Euro 2004 in Portugal

next World Cup is 2006 Germany

I would love to see them qualify. I hope Sparky is still there and he can do it.

Wow, we agree on something Jpaul :o
It would be great to see them in, if I remember right, '86 was the last time in!

I love to see the underdogs do well, like we have seen in the last 3 cups :D

Germany, but I'm secretly hoping for good ol' Uncle Sam to finally do something right whilst playing this fine game, but I doubt that 'll happen. Antartica has a better chance of winning with a suite of penguins, with broken wings, and with no heads, and dead for eighty years.

The interest I have in predicting the winner is overwhelmed by my indifference to soccer in general. When it becomes a professional sport, then e-mail me.

Who cares, I would rather watch foosball.

No criticism intended Mike, it was just a correction.
