View Full Version : Can we still use Demondoid's Tracker?

I'm downloading from mininova and see this in the torrent properties:

http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/4607/demxd7.jpg

Tracker:

http://inferno.demonoid.com:3399/announce

Does this mean that even though demonoid no longer exists, we can still use seeded torrents on the demonoid tracker?

I though the tracker's purpose was to connect the seeders with the leechers, and if their server is down(no longer exists), how can we still use their .torrent file?

A little confused here, guess I need to read a bit more about bittorrents. :ermm:

Maybie you are downloading a torrent from a public site, that containts the announce from demonoid but it doesn't works, only works the others... or maybie works, simple like that :geptard:

well, i've tried some torrents from demonoid caught at public trackers and haven't succeeded at all. maybe u are lukcy cuz u catch some peers by using DHT and peer exchange. but i have all that turned off on my utorrent cuz private trackers forbid its use.

I also think you are downloading from a public Tracker.

I have not had any success with this, but you have all read the rumors that Demondoid is coming back. Anybody got any new info about this?

I've heard the same but have no proof yet.

DHT does it. That's how I finished a couple of massive downloads from demonoid after it went down... unfortunately because its just DHT, speeds tend to be terrible and seeding is almost non-existent.

Good luck with whatever you're trying to get though.

Got the 700 Megs in a couple of hours and am still seeding it.
