Jam knows best

also if you are looking to keep it for a while and dont need to be doing 10TB a month, check out hosting-ie vps's

they will beat a vectoral dedicated any day of the week.

If you only want to rent for 1 month, there are better options than having to pay any set up fees to any company of course.

If you want unlimited for 3 months or more, then hosting beats all other mid-range boxes hands down.

The only boxes better than hosting are what you pay for, and if you are not an uploader, then why bother?

OVH is a server company just like all the others that have been mentioned here, however you have to be in a specific country. http://www.ovh.co.uk/

Leaseweb is decent you can try them also. http://www.leaseweb.com/

Dont buy one from vectoral. (outdated hardware, very high price for what you get)

The OS youll want on your server is Windows Web 2003. Then you will be able to remote login (via remote desktop) with a username and password, then it looks like your home pc's desktop.

For windows, I have the full tutorial in the FAQ link in my sig, as well as the setup of ftp with ssl.

Enjoy your new box.

so if i get a package from leaseweb and then i have to choose windows 2003 web base edition in the os screen so that means i will have to revert back to windows 2003 web edition?

thanks you all been a great help

You can do vectoral if you'd like keep in mind they charge you a little extra for windows. With leaseweb you can get the windows express server 1 which comes metered at 2kGB. Here's a link. http://www.leaseweb.com/index.php?p=dedicatedexpress
