Hello guys. Me and a couple of friends are looking to create a small website for our community (100 peeps or less). We would like to have a main page for visitors and registered users, forums, mailing list, etc, and maybe a small paypal store.

The problem is that I don't have a clue on webhosting, or webmastering in any way. I know html, css and some javascript, so basically I'm lost on wich kind of hosting should I be considering and what type of skills I need to learn (php, mysql, etc).

I'm looking for recommendations on how to start, what webhosting service (cheap and trustable) should I get, etc.

Thx in advance.

I use "Go Dadday": http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp
Besides the cool name ;), they have really cheap quality service (Linux or Windows based hosting).
Let me know if you need any help... Best of luck!

I use hostmonster for my sites and Ive never had any troubles. Look into a cms portal for your site. Something like droopal or joomla. Those make things a bit easier if you cant code a whole site.

I use ContentForce (http://content-force.com). I pay $20 a month for 20 GB bandwidth and 100 GB storage. Came with a free domain and lay-out, which was cool. I recommend it over Godaddy definitely....
