Well with all the hype 'bout it I decided to give it a try.

I've now converted to Firefox 3. At least until I can tryout IE8.

I'm only using it for it's speed and startup time. It really puts IE7 to shame, but other than that all these addons/plugins are a real hassle.

Do any of ya'll have any recommendations on addons/plugins and the like?

 There's so many. I already have a few.

Tips on FF usage would be nice also. Like watch the number of addons since some slow the shit out off FF.

Installing a lot of plugins won't slow you down noticeably.
Install Fasterfox,CSLite(cookie safe) and AdBlock Plus.specially AdBlock. They'll all speed up FF not slow it down
NoScript is a good idea if you do a lot of unsafe browsing otherwise don't bother since you'll just end up having to allow stuff anyway.

:huh:Opera is great just not as customizable as FF but inherently more secure.

adblock is the most important one...

Also ones I like are gmail notifier (checks your gmail and says when you get a new message), and Firebug (only good if you develop websites :idunno:).

Forgot one. Secure Login -like the name suggests similar to remember password but much safer.

Chatzilla as an add on rapes your ram, and more the longer it's on. True story. I installed the standalone version and it uses about 5-15mb.

I'd also recommend Remove it Permanently (R.I.P.). It proves to be a very important addon, can't picture myself without it ..

(Link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/521)

Also use NoScript if you want security and an ultra safe browsing experience .. disables Java and some other things of the sort. (flash ect.)

Nah, doesn't change the folder icons. Just the URL shortcuts.

ABP is a MUST have
Customize Google: helps u customize your google page. Like, it adds other search engines to google page, removes adds from google search etc.
DownThemAll: helps boost up download. Has side effect though.
easyGesture: isn't big deal but i like it. I don't have to move my mouse that much, because of this.
Foxmarks: This is another MUST have. Saves bookmark to it's server on daily basis. Is handy to restore bookmarks if your PC crashes or something...or even to transfer bookmarks from one computer to another.
Foxytunes: Don't have to bother switching between window media player/ realplayer and FF coz foxytunes itself is a player that is integrated within FF.
WebMailNotifier: Checks in Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, and couple in certain time interval (which can be set) and gives a lil popup on right down corner. Also with couple of clicks you can axx your emails. I LOVE this...this is a MUST have as well.
No Script: handy for blocking out unnecessary scripts...especially those interwebs pranks.
