Hm... I think $60 a month; I get 4MB down; and a throttled 2MB up. I would try and persuade my parents to switch to another service provider, but Commucast is the only thing available in our area :(

Here we have 4 or 5 ISP, only three of them are noticeable, the others are jokes, the fastest speeds they offer are:

CANTV>>>>>> 2048 kbps Down - 512 kbps Up = US $201.30
Inter Cable>>> 4096 kbps Down - 256 kbps Up = US $101.04
MovilMax>>>>> 2048 kbps Down - 1024 kbps UP = US $135.00

I used all the three and now I am with the last one, it´s wireless and at least allows me to upload at "decent" speeds. But in the three cases the thing is "up to", meaning that you´ll never get that speed really, although in the beginning with MovilMax I got up to the double they offered, today if I´d get half-speed uploading I´d say: Thanks Lord. They are upgrading the system, raised monthly payments in 25% and I´m just waiting.
InterCable is nothing else than a swindle, and CANTV a sad fuc*** joke.

When cable first hit our town, i got on at the end of the beta test and was unlimit, and i mean NO limit! I had the entire bandwidth of the town divided by like 32 ppl, but i never actually measured it, i was mainly downloading from FTP and newsgroups at the time. Then one day after 3 months of being spoiled, they flipped the switch and i got UPTO 3mb and they connected 10,000 more houses that year.

I also got cable when it first came out and there was no limit as well. Speed wasn't as fast back then though but I had my modem uncapped and I could upload at almost 10Mbit/s. there is no way to uncap this Docsis 2 modems now. Although there are ways to steal your neighbours bandwidth and no pay for internet but you actually need to steal someone's modem key to get online. My ISP now offers up to 30Mbit/s but still only 1Mbit up. But is $93 for that I think.

Haha nice. I wish I had neighbors like that.. then I could torrent with my different computers and be able to upload at more than my speed. Anyway, I have DSL. $35 for 5 megabit (my line is bad, so I don't get 5mbit always..) and more or less 65-75 kB/s upload.

30/5 for $40 (I get full speeds 95% of the time, DL sometimes drops a bit during the evening)
I think I'm the very end of the line here, given where my home is located, which may play a role idk.

But I usually use 100/100 for 30 Euro @ Leaseweb ;)

No traffic limits at all?

Sweden is great, but I heard there are not many households really have 100/100 connection, despite the legends that all the Sweden is covered with 100mbps Internet. :)

I pay $65 for a so called "full unlim" tariff, which is actually limited to 40/40 mbps, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Pay nothing. The neighbors don't secure their connection.

 Business as usual. A lot of people is installing WiFi at home and do nothing to secure it.

I even know stories from rural areas of the country, where you have to pay $100 for a 128k connection, people used to gather under the windows of some official building to download stuff at 10mbps for free.

In Serbia we have problem with monopol :P The only ISP which is allowed to have extrernal internet link is Serbian Telekom. So if you wanna be ISP in Serbia you MUST buy any type of Internet connection from Serbian Telekom, otherwise you will loose your licente to work. They dictate the prices:

This is the fastest connections available for regular users (companies can get just a little faster connections): Telekom ADSL: 1.5mbs/192kbs = almost 50EUR

We have another big cable provider Serbian Broadband (SBB) - but they also go through Serbian Telekom - which came up with the idea to sell you traffic inside their own network too :P So the fastest you can get with cable: 1024/512 internet + 1024/512 among local users = 60EUR

The good thing 'bout the cable connectio is that when you meet peer who is part of your network you start exchanging data within local connection, so you can get actually 2mbit/1mit ;)

I am a mod at one private torrent tracker which allows access for SBB users only and we exchange files with local bandwidth. Exceptions are torrents seeded from seedboxes, where both bandwidths are joined, and "download team" downloads from other torrent trackers...

That situation is going to bother us probably for year or two cause Serbian Telekom is goverment company and the privatisation of it is planed next year, and then will get more ISPs with external links and better prices...

Yeah, it's unlimited. And you're correct, you gotta be lucky to live in an appartment that's connected to the city's fibre network (and this means living in a bigger city in the first place), and it is usually pretty expensive. I'm lucky to live in a city where it's very cheap though :). However, i wouldn't say that there are few households in Sweden with 100/100.
