This movie inspired the "Duke Nukem" games with it's famous line: " I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick A-- and i'm all out of bubblegum".

this movie actually inspired Duke Nukem!
anyways is this a scary move! i dont like scary movies!

 This is one of the great "nonsense" movies of the eighties.
It's not about any serious (sh)it, just fun to see.

Check out They Live (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096256/) on Imdb.

And I don't think that they have made a sequel to it.

This movie stars Rowdy roddie piper, that wwf(wwe)wrestler from yesteryear! Its made by john carpenter and is a great sci-fi/horror/comedy/action film.It has some brilliant punch-ups,wrestling stylee! Its basic plot is that aliens are taking over the planet(wow thats original!!) but humans cant see them, unless they put on a special pair of shades that reveals the aliens true form(which is freaky as hell) Roddy ends up getting hold of a pair and joins up with a small army of humans that have also been shown the aliens true form.10/10 great fun,ive seen it about 6 times now. ;)

one of the best films a wrestler has ever done !!!!!!!!

The fight scene between roddy piper and keith david was not scripted.

it has achieved legend status in stunt circles as the actors actually just went for it and fought for real, no reshoots, no breaks - just fighting.

there is an interview with the cast floating around on a john carpenter fan web site somewhere, sorry it was a long time ago i can't remember it.

there was no john carpenter sequel made however there is a film out there that uses the same/similar idea as this. as soon as i can find it i will post imdb link

EDIT:IMDB Film Details (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090649/)

 Yeah, but this movie "Annihilator" was made 2 years before "They Live", so it has absolutely no connection with "They Live" other than a similar plot. And the score is also 4.3, so that doesn't sound too promising.

Sorry i did not check the exact date !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also did not say it was good (its not, trust me i've seen it)

it was only memorable for the bad robot effects.

i saw it years ago , late night on terrestial t.v in u.k

also the same place i saw "they live" for the first time, i remembered the actress having strange eyes, and went from there on imdb.

Definately a great 'B' movie, very recommended if you like bad movies...

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the fight scene from the South Park 'Cripple Fight' episode was heavily inspired by They Live. :)

uh.........

uh.........

um........

nonsense?!?!

you didn't notice the satirical bits about society, popular culture and mass media? it was all as subtle as a reverse piledriver. "They Live" may not be the most clever political statement ever made, but it was a little bit more than mere "nonsense."

in other news, Duke Nukem didn't invent any of those catchphrases that he ripped off from the Evil Dead movies, either.
