Considering the game will only come on 1 CD anyway 491MB isn't really that small...The press release beta which has been mentioned on websites and i'm guessing is the same here contains the first 4 levels of the game and some multiplayer, i think its LAN only though...

I just finished downloading this, but the iso doesn't seem to work for me. I tried loading the image onto Alcohol 120%, but that didn't work, and it didn't work for Daemon-Tools also. Any ideas? Fake?

EDIT: Tried burnign the image, and when I try to load the CDR, it appears to be an audio CD!!! But when I open the image with ISOBuster, it looks like a normal CD. What's going on?

It's a image file created by nero, maybe burning it with nero would work.

If you experience troubles, use UltraISO to convert the halo.nrg file to the .iso format.

Ok I read some info on this. If you have trouble, you need to convert it to an .iso format for it to work. And it's also stated that the .nrg image has to be burnt with Nero 6, since it has trouble with 5.5.

i burned the halo.nrg with nero at a low speed and after it burned it i went to my computer went to my e: drive where my cd burner was at and it was labled halo beta then i open the folder and i click the halo exe and i click express install and it installed directx.b and then it installed the game and i updated my drivers and i played the game with no problems im up to the place after u get off the space ship with the aliens

Yeah install went fine here too, runs pretty smooth. Not sure what the big fuss is about though. (did not play on X-box) but looks ok.

Yes there is LAN multiplayer. I started a LAN game to check it out and everything went ok.

i downloaded this in about 3 hours yes the graphics alot deffinitly better then the X-Box especially the shading and bump mapping when u look at the ground at night with the flashlight on you can deffinitly see it. it doesn't have all the levels it has about half of them unless its just my computer but i get right after u find the catagrapher then i jump in the ship take off then as i go beneath ground it just freezes so either my copy is screwed up or thats where it stops.

I don't know what most of you guys are talking about, most of you have probably never played the xbox version but, all the levels are there. And its beta, its not working all that great. The lan won't start for me, not sure why. The textures are distorted, Its not video card, just its beta. So if you think the graphics are nice now, just wait untill the final version. Don't judge the game before its finished ;)

Well I can&#39;t wait to see the finsihed pc version. It will be of course, 10 times better, with everything fixed up... Then maybe I can get it working on my computer that has my geforce 5200...

though I can wait, I have the game for xbox. But I will admit, I LOVE PLAYING THIS GAME WITH A MOUSE. It feels more control. When I play it on xbox, things feel too slow, when I use mouse, it acts like counter-strike. The game owns.

No all the levels aren&#39;t there. You could of mounted the first image if you would of converted it to an iso.

I havnt played the xbox game for over a year, but i&#39;m almost positive the maw isnt the final level...well it could be, meh i didn&#39;t like the game very much anyway.

The maw is the last level. When you are on the crashed ship and you escape on the warthog. You don&#39;t remember that? That was on the piliar of autom. Need to go play to refresh your memory :P


Well I will be honest, I didn&#39;t like the game the first time I played. It had way to many enemys and repetitive levels. But after I beat it I gave it back to my bro. Then I wanted it back....then I bought it. Just had the thirst for it. ;)


But The Maw is the last level....

Yeah i remember the last level with the race to escape, but i just didn&#39;t remember it being titled &#39;The maw&#39;. Too many bad memories of that game, hopefully the pc version&#39;s online capabilities and (potential) huge mod community will help me see the game the way others have.

You are right about some things. Even though I do have controller S, FPS arent the same on consoles. Its a PC&#39;s job because of the mouse. I&#39;d rather look around with a mouse as opposed too a controller. I see good things to come with the pc version...I really do. A lot of things can be done, and of course multiplayer is what I&#39;m looking for. Don&#39;t get me wrong, I like playing system link with my brother but...Its just too much trouble bringing his xbox over all the time. PC will be the bridge...

Yeah, it runs on my crappy GeForce 4 mx and my amd 1000mhz athlon with 256mb sdram.

By mountable it means that you can mount it onto a virtual CD drive, like Daemon Tools. You can get Daemon Tools at www.daemon-tools.cc (I think).

And for some reason this release doesn&#39;t work on my PC. It just freezes at the Halo screen. I&#39;m gonna try getting JAGISO&#39;s Pre-Gold copy, and see if that one works.

I downladed it, and the file burnt just fine withnero. The game plays good, buggy with some aliasing and some other glitches but all in all I won&#39;t complain. Now I just wait for the real release&#33;

Finaly downloaded in 7 hours & install it in a matter of minute,runs ok the only problem is too many bugs cause its not final version ,nothing special about the game shooter like shooter ,xbox version is better i&#39;m sure,play it ones but joystics sucks big time,anyway dono about geforce fx thing or 3ghz cpu it runs ok on my Amd atnlon xp 2200 g4
mmx440 768 ddram if anyone having troubles with even better config like mine then proublem with OS i gues.

Pause and resume the download? Bittorrent allows pausing and resuming. When you have to turn off the computer or something, just do it. Come back and start bittorrent again and it will hash it and resume it....

Abu, at first, my main computer wasnt working with halo pc. My main computer is a geforce 5200 128mb video card, 384 mb ddr ram, amd athlon xp 1.8 ghz proccessor and the game runs fine at 1024x768 resolution... Those screens I took are on my second computer, its specs are: geforce 2 mx/mx 400 64mb video card, amd athlon xp 2200+ 1.8 ghz proccessor, 256 mb ddr ram and it ran "ok" at 800x600 resolution. Thats what those screens are from. I did not take them on the computer I&#39;m using now (the geforce 5200). I reinstalled the halo on this computer and now it works. Game runs fine for me at 1024x678 resolution with little to none in lag... For my second computer It was best if ran on 800x600. So if you look at my second computer, and you have something close to that, then it should run fine on your computer with 800x600 resolution. By the way,

I like the new rocket warthog, and the flamethrower is nice.....

It should run fine with the following computer specs (did on my other computer anyway)

1.8 ghz proccessor
256 mb ddr ram
64mb video card

I&#39;d recommend higher than 256 because I noticed some lag here and there with my second computer. But this one with 384 mb ram and 128 mb video card its perfect. So if you have that, it will run fine ;)

Ok listen, when I ran that game on my second computer, the one with 64mb video card, I had it on 800x600 with the highest detail and it ran ok....


so if you have around 64mb of video memory, and turned all down to low and lowest resolution, then I imagine it would run fine.... Even a 32 mb video card could probably do ok...hmm forgot I had those details turned up. ;)

are you using the latest drivers from ATI? i had some probs with an earlier driver version, but 3.7 fixed everything except a really minor graphics glitch (gunshot/blast/scorch marks were white). but it was good enough to play through the entire demo at 1024x768 on a radeon 9000 pro, with the graphics mostly correct and no crashing.

Many pc&#39;s that people regard as slow will actually perform pretty well, i can run vice city on a duron 650, geforce 4 mx440, with 256 mb of sdram, with the graphics at 800x600 and the draw distance all the way up, the only lag I experience is when you first go outside, after just loading up the game, it does a tiny stall when you first look round because it loads all the textures across vice city into the graphics card, after that 1/2 second lag, it runs like butter

im also running xp no probs

Methinks im going to wait till the full retail version of Halo comes out, i&#39;d rather play this game in its full glory TBH.

For you that want to know what ram you need to run it smooth, let me put it this way. I ran this thing nicely on my second computer that has a 64mb video card, 1.8 ghz proccessor, and only 256 mb of ram. ON HIGH DETAIL SETTINGS, and 800x600 resolution with a little lag here and there. So if you have something close or lower, just lower the settings to your needs. This game will run on almost anything it seems... If you guys have the time, go into lan by yourself and check out some of the new stuff. Edit the game types first so you can add all vehicles and all guns. Rocket warthog, flamethrower and that rod gun thing ;)

I&#39;ll stick around few more minutes if you guys need to ask something, then I&#39;m taking this over to my brothers house to play it on his LAN setup. (Never any lag there ;) )

its easy the game just thinks ur connecting thru LAN there are some programs that can do that aswell. i got it off suprnova.org your nosey.and no this does not need a CD-key thats gotta be at least one of the dumbest things i&#39;ve heard asked. i never played a leaked beta that requires u to register to play it with a CD-Key.

it is not the full game. it&#39;s a partial "beta" demo (beta = incomplete. the final version will prolly look better and have less glitches). i dunno exactly how much of the game it contains, but it seems like maybe the first 1/3 or 1/2 of the total levels.

and yes, that is where it ends for everybody... after you get the map and go back outdoors & get on the rescue ship.

There apparently is some kind of fix for geforces, i dunno mine works fine. I do not know where to get it from that you might have access to but maybee if you PM skank real nice he will email it to ya. I do not know the size of what he has but he says it fixed his problem.

the games comes out in 2.5 weeks, just wait for it then. besides, i have other great games to play for now. i would prefer the real version and working mp rather than playing the game before it comes out with problems

Well guys, im downlaodin halo now and in My documents i see a new file...named: halo(nero cd image)
the downlaod aint finished yet, but im just sayin this so i know if im gettin the right one, its the 492 one&#33; halo 1.5
Anyway, when its finished could sum1 please post a step by step guide on how to get it workin, cos im kinda new to nero aswell.. :P

Don&#39;t worry it will, my second computer is a 64 mb video card with 256 mb of ram so I know for a fact it will run. And it will run at 800x600 on high detail pretty niceley. Not that I would dare play halo on that piece of shit computer lol. Well I did when this pc wouldn&#39;t work with it, I got that fixed....

I got the Halo from Bittorrent, I bured it to a cd and I reinstalled it 2 times, becasue every time I tried to play it, it would stay on this screen that says Halo, and it soulds like a bunch of praying munks, and I dont get past that.

Also it installs DirectX 9.0b on your computer, if you dont want that, dont get Halo.

yea, most likely kazaa will give u a fucked up file or a virus. just use bittorrent. i don&#39;t think emule has it yet. if it does, it&#39;ll take u at least 500 hrs. <_< :(

Fo r people who freezed on the Halo openign splash screen - I had a similar problem whihc was fixed by me turning my anti-aliasing off.

Hope that helps some of you.

Playing it on LAN, can;t get warthogs to work apart from in RACE and Rally modes etc. Tried creating custom eatmatches with warthogs - but wouldnl;t work - anyone?

I downloaded it from BitTorrent but it freezes on the Halo screen, which seems to have happened to other people. I&#39;m using a Geforce 4 MX440 and I&#39;m not actually sure how to turn off anti-aliasing. Any advice? :unsure:

Oh yea the question...... Its a beta so some of the problems have not been knocked out. Go and steal another game till they fix this one.....Then you can steal it again once they fixed it

Anyone getting the freezing first screen that is using a nividia card, PM me with your email addy i will email ya the patch. I do not no where to download it from or if it works but it is supposed to.

Check that I put it on my page Direct download (http://home.cogeco.ca/~webextras/NVEmulate.rar) I do not know what kind of BW i have from there but it is small so i should be ok, any trouble getting it PM me your addy.

But the real question was; "How would I go about turning off anti-aliasing?", I also read that ansitropic stuff screws with it too.

I just tried it, first time with only NV30 Emulate checked, and then with both checked. Still no joy unfortunately. :(

u turn off antilaising by going to display, settings, advanced, ur video card tab, and i think under performance and quality. thats for my vid card, which is a gforce fx 5200. should be similar 4 most nvidia cards

Unfortunately, it didn&#39;t work. :blink: This is getting extremely stupid.

The only thing I can think of, is that it&#39;s a problem with the copy I downloaded. I&#39;m going to try it on a friends&#39; machine tomorrow.

Well I will be honest, I didn&#39;t like the game the first time I played. It had way to many enemys and repetitive levels. But after I beat it I gave it back to my bro. Then I wanted it back....then I bought it. Just had the thirst for it. ;)


But The Maw is the last level....
