Listen UP PEOPLE!
This post might be a little lengthy, but its WORTH the read. Im a law enforcement officer and I dont condone theft in anyway. Or is this REALLY theft? I have a SERIOUS problem with this RIAA crap thats going on. They want to go after file sharers but yet you can record these songs from the radio or tape tv shows and movies, but you never hear any suits on people doing that. Thats like saying its legal to sell pot just as long as you dont sell crack! I also have a SERIOUS problem with a little 12 year old girl being sued! In my book, your a TERRORIST for doing that! The definition of TERRORIST is as follows: The planned, organized use of fear to control someone. And the RIAA has stated the word "scare" in there whole media frenzy. So there you go...Like the old saying.."If the shoe fits".
PEOPLE, We have the POWER to STOP this! Its called the POWER OF BOYCOTT!
Lets quit saying we ARE going to do it! AND REALLY DO IT! Lets get a BIGGER media frenzy than the RIAA's lawsuits!
Lets see headlines like "THOUSANDS BOYCOTT MUSIC INDUSTRY AND RIAA"!
Or "RAPID DECLINE IN CD SALES GROWING DUE TO BOYCOTT"!
Or even BETTER! "MAJOR BOYCOTT CAUSES RIAA SUBMISSION"!
After hearing of this stuff and this lawsuit against a 12 year old as of RIGHT NOW I WILL NEVER BUY another CD again!! (cept CD/Rs).
But its gonna take more than me or just a handfull of people! If we BOYCOTT even just for say 6 months, it will KICK the feet out from under the RIAA and KICK them out HARD!
Lets turn the tables people and TURN UP THE HEAT ON THEM! I Emplore you to join me and others for the Boycott!
Without our purchases, they HAVE NO POWER!
They claim they've lost 31% in sales? Lets just add ANOTHER 31% or better yet MORE!
BELIEVE ME! IT WILL WAKE THEM UP!
This little innocent 12 year old girl will now have to pay a fine to the Terrorist group that will more than likely come out of her COLLEGE FUND or the CAR that she will buy to get to and from College.
We need to show the RIAA WHO THE REAL BOSSES ARE! IT'S US!
Please take it upon yourself that if you join this cause, Please be loyal to it!
Dont say "Yeah!" and then go out and buy a bunch of CD's this weekend!
For people that are SERIOUS about this! An would to make the above headlines a reality! Lets post a list on this forum of people that have started and are going to be loyal to this cause.....NO REAL names just user names! and the date you started your pledge NOT to buy anymore CD's....I WANT to be on this list so I will start out as #1. When others see this list and as it grows, It will definately ENCOURAGE others to join. Please help people! Not just Kazaa users...But tell your Friends, relatives, and coworkers! SPREAD this cause by WORD OF MOUTH, CHAT, EMAIL, or however you can. And please when you add your name to the list. Please repost it so others can see our progress. If we DO THIS people, we can WIN!
And also suing Grandparents??? 90% of those people live of Social Security and thats barely enough to make ends meet!
The RIAA and Music Industry just LOST me as a customer until THEY CHANGE!!!!
Suing CHILDREN OUT of their COLLEGE EDUCATION!!!!!
Here's MY NAME for the BOYCOTT LIST!

#1. TexasLawman Boycott Date 9/10/03

I can't agree more. Boo fucking hoo, the millionaires lose some money. That's one less yacht for them. I sure as hell wouldn't buy the overpriced CDs they sell today. Maybe one or two songs are good.

They should force the money from the lawsuits into a good cause, not their greedy wallets. People seem more focussed on stopping file sharing than stopping terrorism...

I DON'T KNOW WHAT # I AM, BUT COUNT ME IN!!

SUEING A 12 YEAR OLD?? THE MUSIC INDUSTRY SURE HAS SOME CRACK PR PEOPLE. WONDER IF THEY GAVE THE GUY WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF 'SCARING' 12 YEAR OLDS A RAISE? Maybe he got the $2000 as a bonus!

Somehow, I get the impression that RIAA has bitten itself on the BUTT.

Well, there are some independent artists that I like to support. They are not rich and famous, and not tied to the RIAA in any way. They need CD sales to thrive.

I won't buy Justin Timberlake or Micheal Jackson CD's. These people receive record deals and contracts. They don't get money from album sales. The RIAA takes all that money from the millions of CD's sold. These artists are rich already too. Even if they did receive money for CD sales, it would not really affect their finances.

I must be #5 or so.

Course I began boycotting the instant RIAA began those subpoenas. Havne't bought a CD in over 6 mnths, nor will I. If I do buy cd's it's from local bands in my area, who generally kick alot more ass than that mainstream crap anyhoo.

I think a lot of us have already been boycotting for awhile now. As kylman5000 said

I'm boycotting them. Oh wait, I've been boycotting them sence napster

there has been a noticable drop in cd sales since napster but we havent made any headlines as yet.

Like i have said before We will beat them, We don;t have to put our names down if we are boycotting, you are a new user and may be working for them i am not taking risks or anyhting but most of us boycott. Soulseek for my albums and K-Lite for Movies its that simple.

This is how i figure it:

Mr. Executive Millionaire is sitting in his 10 million dollar mansion. He is reading the Wall Street Journal.

"Darn, my stock is down 1 point. I better put through a call to my people to crack down now, or i cant get the gold guilding on the rails of my yacht."

THIS SUING IS BULLSHIT! Plain and simple, it is rich people who feel that it is their duty to make poor people poorer. Do rich people use Kazaa? No, because they can afford to buy anything they want, and i believe that at least 60% of P2P users only download because 1. They cant afford cd's or 2. They cant see spending 20 dollars on a cd that they like 1 song on. I used to respect the music industry to a point, but this lawsuit and corrupt file bullshit has traded my respect into the word BOYCOTT.

PS: I said only 60 percent because i know at least 40 percent of every group are just assholes and would do something out of spite.

...#8 i think.

i've been boycotting all cds under the RIAA ever since the first user was subpoened. the only cds i will buy are blanks, and GOOD bands that aren't POPULAR. the ones that do it for the music not the glamour. underground is the way to go if you're going to buy ANY cds!

TexasLawman
09-11-2003, 03:00 PM
LoL....splithead....The razorbacks gotta good rep...May the best one win. And as for casfina's inquiry concerning a "victims fund". I have seen some discussions that if all the filesharers donated a dollar or so...It would make quite a handsome account...Also have heard that the EFF has attorneys that have done or will do "pro bono" cases. (free) I do believe artists should get paid. I have no problem with that. What I DO have a problem with is this "Terroristic Lawsuit" action...There's other avenues that could have been taken....Like ALOT of people have posted on this forum that I AGREE with 110%, its all about the money!
THANKS to all the people that are joining and have been involved with the cause!

Well i don't feel like reading all the posts so i will post this again if it hasn't already been posted www.boycott-riaa.com (http://www.boycott-riaa.com) its a site of the organization boycotting the music industry go there to find out more about the boycott and yes it is illegal to keep the songs you record off the radio for 24 hours but its not a big problem and it would be too hard to track it so they don't bother but in the future who knows

I'm in, been in for along time....I refuse to purchase any tittle cd or dvd or even vhs until I see an end to this dispute...spend a few bucks and learn to burn.... And as far as an entittlement to action, protection and opinion.... You loose your entittlement to act when you sit idley bye for 20 years as the average joe cracks your wares and do not spend a dime to change when the entire planet has been down sized, resized, reschooled over and over. Protection,... all you people who sit on the fence and do nothing or type your trype and still purchase the product during this WAR will wish you had spoke up when the Government takes this action to new hieghts and other reasons for home intrusion...big brother is growing..and as far as an Opinion goes , and we are entittled to one no matter how abstract. But if they come for the file sharers and nobody stops them..... then next it will be the dvd ripping crowd .....and the cdr folkes..... and forums .....and new laws to listen in on you....... and on, and on and without much foresight one can see where the power trip leads. always has always will...human nature

As a Canadian I have always held the U.S. with esteem . But as an outsider looking in ..I see a Great Nation being widdled down ever so slowly by some invisible anti american cancer from within. Your to big to be sheep, leave that to us, we're better at it. ....Some of you see where this can lead and know that a short click up the road lies even less privacey so if your OPINION has anything to do with not winning the right ,free and clear to file swap then you are part of the problem not the solution no matter how valid YOU think your point is a WAR lost is a WAR lost.........ok, I feel better now

What number I'm I?

benn19uk

#6 probably

And on a similar note -
I knew someone who was downloading music and making CD's to sell. He eventually got caught and has his PC confiscated. By that time he'd already made enough money to buy a new one and still have loads spare... To the best of my knowlegde he's still selling illegal copies of CD's... And is quite happy to carry on doing so...
Now I'm not saying that it's right for him to be doing that, but if he can make even a few hundred a month selling CD's to people at £2 a time, why can't the MASSIVE recording industry just sell CD's for less? Are they seriously expecting me to believe that recoring a 10pence CD-R is cheaper than thier own production methods? I've no idea what the exact costs are, but I'm sure that a £13 CD is £12.00 profit... A boycott might make someone do something about it...

Of course I'm im, have been for a while. The only cd's I ever buy are local bands that are actually good, not mainstream popular crap where most sales go don't even go to the artists. I support bands by going to concerts and so forth. Hopefully this boycott will make some leadway B)

I can't agree more. Does anyone know, If I'm buying a CD here in the UK, does it help the RIAA in anyway?

xenodragon2001
10-11-2003, 11:07 PM
You know, just sitting here and talking about wont help. We all must come together and fight as one! We still have the law on our side, the first amendment, the freedom of petition! We should start a petition and get every KazaaLover to sign it and send it to the government, and then they will have to listen to us. I may sound like a rambling fool but we must try.

I'm in. The only CD I've bought in the last year has been a RA cd that I bought at their concert in one of the local bars in town. They only have one song that has sort of went mainstream and that wasn't until like a couple of months ago. I am not going to buy a mainsteam cd when I will pay $20+ on 1-2 songs.

We need to show that we're not afraid of them and that sueing a 12-year-old is not going to help them prove their point.

I would only but cds via music clubs since its so cheap from them.
But when filetrading came along that changed it all ,I stoped getting most cds for a few good songs.
