Two days ago, a few hours after I had checked my computer for adware/spyware, I installed Earthstation 5.
Today I ran Spybot and Ad-aware (latest versions, updated) again, and the latter found two tracking cookies.

I deleted them, and when I rebooted my computer Windows didn't start.
Instead I got a DOS window error (with some DLL error about Earthstation), and Windows Explorer shut down.
I then rebooted in safe mode, deleted everything Earthstation, rebooted again, and everything worked perfectly again.

Now I know I could have got those tracking cookies somewhere else, but I think this is a strange coincidence.
Did anyone else have adware/spyware from ES5 or heard from others about it?

You get cookies from browsing internet sites. They are pretty harmless.

ES5 just has a very messy installation. My advise is just to stay away from it. If you are looking for alternatives, then just try eMule.

Or BitTorrent, or Soulseek, or Filetopia, or... ;)

@ Paul: I always thought tracking cookies are "evil" (ie other than regular cookies), because Ad-aware picks them up and deletes them.
ES5 is very messy compared to K-Lite; I only installed it for the streaming movies. :D

@ Illuminati: eMule, thanks. I just wanted to look into ES5. ;)
