I'm wondering how a typical inmate would spend his day...do they get assigned jobs? or just spend all their time in their cell? can they bring in entertainment like laptops or tv's? (I know they can read or listen to music) I'm sure they get a social room and have a few hours a day in there and lunch... but im more wondering if they actually spend most of their time in the cell or doign assinged tasks...
I ask this because I'm watching role models, and was thinking, hmm whats worse, a month in county, or having to babysit kids 40 hours a week. I'm sure prison is worse, but I don't know since I aint no gansta.

Well it depends on what prison, what you did, what class of inmate you are. The variables determine if you get a job or not and how much time out of your cell you get.

Thanks Skweeky =) I was curious because I was watching Role Models, so yeah weird or not, I've heard different stories about what prisoners can actually do while in da slammer and wanted to find out a little more.

In general I would try to stay out of it. It must be hard to find and make good friends in prison (which is not to say there aren't good people locked up, such is the human condition) at least friends who aren't likely to end up there again unless they correct their ways.
In any case I would think prison to be a good place to catch up on serious reading. You can read outside though, which is why staying free is still clearly the advantage (anal virginity, as well as mental stability are two factors also at stake).

Everyday she goes to the prison the predict the suicide potential of convicts.
She is wonderful to talk to.
