3 Mbps is great

56k = 56kb per second
3Mb/s = 3072kb per second

over 50 times the speed of a dial up connection. :D

there is really no need to get the 3Mbps, 1.5M is enough

I have 1.5Mbps adsl but I never download more than 1Mbps

how long does it take to download 1MB?

well 1MB = 1,024,000 Bytes X 8 = 8,192,000 bits / 3,000,000bits/s = 2.73 seconds but this is only the theortical speed

nobody can download that fast

i have a 3.4Mb connection and i have downloaded files all the way up to 600 KB/s but most of the time at a steady 150 to 300 KB/s. im on a LAN network so sometimes i will borrrow other peoples speed as they will mine.just rememebr their is a big diffrence between KB and Kb. Byte and bit.
