and tell me whether it works? I keep getting a tracker not found error. :(

edit: is the status light on the client accurate?? I've been on yellow for quite a while and i'm pretty sure i'm not on a firewall. but my speeds are incredibly slow.

Does't sound good (Kickin'/Banning part) might be a lot of trouble with bittorrent now.

People running Peer Guardian are already doing just that, although they normally don't change their blocklist while running BitTorrent.

I've been tempted (but haven't yet) to add bitTorrent peer/leech ips to Peer Guardian that I see are getting >100 KB/sec download speeds, haven't sent anything to me, but want me to upload to them at >50% of my upload bandwidth despite others downloading from me as well.

If only a few people do this to only a few ips of a many-peer torrent, then it will actually SPEED UP the torrent for all but the few blocked peer/leeches.

There ARE BitTorrent hacks which make it possible to leech totally or only upload at 1 KB/sec max to 1 person at a time, so this is just yet another arms race between the leeches and everyone else.

Just because they get 100% doesn't mean they are leeching though they might have a T1-T3 connection. But not that many leech and sometimes it's good when they get good speeds then if they do share they can be a seeder and help get the file out quicker.

If they're getting 100% of my upload AND getting 100+ MB from me AND not giving me anything in return over 4+ hours, then to me they are a leech -- because OTHERS are also waiting to download from me and I have BitTorrent set up to upload to 2 OR MORE people at once.

So if only 1 person is getting it all, they're cheating.

the automatic kick ban is not for leechers, its for ppl that send bad data to others.

you must have had a download where its said redownloading because of bad data (or words to that effect) wellthis client will kick the user you are getting from and move on to the next.

and peergaurdian DOES NOT work. tried it because i run my own tracker, (4 different versions as well). as a test i put my friends ip addy in and only that one, then i got him to try a few things.

he got onto the tracker page, posted a comment, downloaded a torrent, leeched a torrent from me. went into mirc and i received a file from him and he recieved a file from me. then msn, exactly the same thing. then he went to my forum logged in posted on it added an atachment and downloaded an attachment.

as i run the tracker and my forum from my pc it should have stopped him,but it didnt.

i have been saying for months that peergaurdian is just there as a scare tactic to stop ppl using p2p programs and it looks like i was spot on. If it wont stop my mate downloading off me what chance has it got of stopping the RIAA etc.

PS: i expect to get flamed for this post, but if that isnt proof that it doesnt work (try it yourself if you want) then i dont know what is.

I personally think even though there has been many bug fixes and improvements in countless versions.Even in the 3.3 version of ex.
Funny enough IMO and in many others 321ex is the best.
