It really depends on what your definition of the "best" tracker really is. If you are really looking for one good tracker, I would have to say TL based on content and ease of maintaining ratio. There are many specific sites like PTP, BMTV, what, ect. that are fitting for specific content but it becomes much more difficult to maintain a ratio and you have to ask yourself, Is it really worth it? Although TL doesn't carry porn, and their music selection is iffy. PureTNA/Empornium are easily the best sites, they're open reg, and its a breeze to keep a ratio. As for music sites, the only way to get more content would probably be what/waffles, but its a hell to seed at.

I'm restating what Rart said but it's dependent on the person.
What exactly they are looking for (movies is a broad term as is TV ,music and even porn)? How much time and effort they want to invest? What kind of connection they have?etc

for porn:
Empornium, PureTNA, Cheggit are all good, and they are all periodically open sign-ups, and have no invite system

for everything else:
Demonoid, which is down atm

for movies:
goem (invite only)
Karagarga (invite only)

I really wouldn't recommend BMTV to a 'n00b'. wouldnt recommend it to a private torrenter either, unless they watch alot of old hard-to-find shwos. it's way too much of a hassle when a general tracker like demonoid has almost every tv show on it. I dont even find tvtorrents all that useful most of the time

If you want tvshows as soon as they air and get released on the net then sign up at torrentbytes, it is open signups regularly.

Asking for the best tracker is like asking which is the best football team. Everyone will differ, and some will fight to defend their honour.

If you ask me what is the best 0day, I may say FTN, yet ask someone with feeling and he will say ScT. As different as chalk and cheese, and just as palatible.

Bitmetv is the best tracker for TV shows...due to timezones, shows are often available before they air in your area, and not just hard to find shows, but all of them. In HD or Raw (4gigs +)

As an alternative, Usenet is free, has better speeds than most BT trackers, and there's no seeding, or keeping rars on your hard-drive.

As far as scene release go, BT is a 'fun' alternative for kids.

zamunda.net: a general tracker that have tons of torrents and is considered almost at par with Demonoid.easy to seed and have good collection of porn, movies, and app.

pertome: also a general tracker that is ratio free

StMusic: a good music tracker that have seeding bonus system that make it easy to keep good ratio. easy to get invite to this site.

TorrentBytes: also general tracker with good selection of packs for movies, nusic Tv, and app. Those are freeleech packs. Open sign up.

Of couse there is demoniod if it come back again

There are free servers you can find if you're not too concerned with retention and looking for mainly scene releases (or you could go IPv6, 100 days isn't bad)
