...there is, in the UK, debate being heard on the matter of excising the subject of The Holocaust from school-texts, etc.

Is it troo at all (at all).

Sounds about right...but it will never happen. Too many Brits died in WW2...the scars are still visible in London as well as countless other countries. Then again, once a generational gap has taken place....and to my math it's just about right....meaning most of the Vets from WW2 have passed or are gathering up stores to pass into the next life. Being the "student" of history I am I feel somewhat foolish saying it's an act inconceivable...but then again Chamberlain really believed that guy.

I think this is way down the list. Though it would not astound me if it is not already happening in some schools.
Top of the list to prohibit is teaching students anything that is useful.

It's the first I've heard of it. Perhaps you inadvertantly caught a sound-bite from Nick Griffin (Not really a politician, more of a racist nazi cunt)

So he would be Glen Beck's British cousin then?

Impossible, because he'd never have any foreign relatives. Never I tell you.

Found a topic on this from two years ago. Some schools dropping Holocaust from history lessons in case it offends Muslims(Don't ask me ).

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-445979/Teachers-drop-Holocaust-avoid-offending-Muslims.html

Saw an item this morning that this was happening in Canada too. Can't find the link.:(

That one is a bit of a dilemma for Auld Nick(BNP).

Why is it people with one eye seem to be down in the esteem stakes at the moment?

Nick Griffin, British Nationalist Party

Sheik Abu Hamza al Masri, Muslim preacher of hate

Gordon Brown, British Prime Minister and leader of the former Socialist Party.

Thanks for that, Bob.

Okay - so it is happening, however minutely.

Anyone care to comment on that, foregoing the comedy for a moment?

"Politically correct" curriculae are just as backwards and retarded as "religiously correct" (i.e., creationism and abstinence only sex education) courses.

Feel free to promulgate any nonsensical fairy tales you please in your mosque/church/cult compound but don't expect the public education system to reinforce or back them up.

Yes, but to the extent that it takes place at all...

What are/should we be willing to do to resist this?

Ignoring it is, well - ignoring it.

Given that I'm only peripherally involved in the local school system (mostly to the extent of being inconvenienced by roaming bands of teenager at the grocery store during the day), the only thing I can think of is to pay attention to those running for the school board.

I can empathize about the inconvenience of teenagers, and I have been tuned to school boards since I was a kid; however, these things are accomplished as the result of local 'movements' rather than individuals, and that fact, combined with the ongoing trend toward accomodation, seems to be carrying the day.

It also seems these accomodations are more easily arrived at in other western countries, no matter how much complaint we hear in the U.S.

The best way would be to tell the truth and teach all cases of genocide\massacres or none at all. Remember that top of the list is the slaughter of Native Americans by Europeans in their quest to conquer the New World. It is reckonned that over 100 million innocent people were slaughtered in that conquest.:(

North American Indians, Incas, Aztecs etc.
We are talking all of the Americas here Kev. Don't get parochial on us.:whistling

Still seems a bit high, but perhaps you could have included that tiny differentiation initially so as to save me a BP spike.

Had to look that one up.:)

Checked up on various sites, that figure seems to be the consensus.

Back on topic the Holocaust. We said that we would not let it happen again and we have sat back and did just that. Pol Pott, Stalin, Rwanda and too many more to mention. It would appear that in some cases we don't interfere unless there is something in it for us.:(

Most cases, actually.

Seems reliance on the U.N. for definitive action is a recipe for the precise opposite.

What a phenomenally effective tool the U.N. has proven to be.

BTW-

Have you a breakdown of the cumulative figures on that "American Indian" massacre, saying who's responsible for what?

Off the top of my head, I would think the Incas and Aztecs would constitute the great (great) majority, though I am sure someone will tell me I'm wrong.
