I don't think there are any safe neighbourhoods left.:(

Arapahoe? Is that Indian country? Maybe he was coming home from the pub and took a short cut up an arrow alley.

I have my coat on.:)

Ah, good - then you haven't misplaced it.

Clocker will have to fill in the particulars, I think.

And yes, Arapahoe is Indian (American specie).

We named several rivers, streets, locales and even a few (most, actually) states after them.

We did this after almost wiping them out, of course.

I've been sick as a dog and this is the first I've heard of this.
In fact, this is the first time I've been online in almost three days.
Yikes, what the hell else have I missed?

Are you stricken with the porcine affliction or something else.

No, pretty sure my eight year Bush/Cheney innoculation is still in force.

Oooooh, this begs a new thread, given the latest developments...you'll be happy to know I am otherwise occupied, so.

OMG!, "Latest developments"!

Prithytell, what part of the conservative sky is falling today?

j2k4
11-18-2009, 12:07 AM
Not the conservative sky, but Obama's.

His administration is claiming to have saved and/or created jobs across the U.S. in state districts that don't even exist.

I know these things don't bother you, so please don't try to take the piss out of those of us who find this utterly hilarious.

This is much funnier than his "I've been to all 57 states" comment.

Oh yeah, heard about that.
Didn't know how life as I know it could possibly go on...briefly considered seppuku.

By all means, laugh away.
The longer your mouth is open, the more chance you'll inhale a tea bag.

Sounds like a project for Disney, eh?

So, let's see...
A couple of New York City police cars get in a minor fender bender...ten minutes ahead of a motorcade...and Fox elevates it to breaking political news.
Because it proves that Obama was born in Kenya or something, I guess.

We already know that "fair and balanced" is beyond Fox's capabilities, is it really too much to ask for interesting or even newsworthy?

Man, it really takes so little to keep you right-wingers afroth these days.
No wonder Palin is such a hit with your side.

j2k4
11-18-2009, 09:26 PM
I'm well aware you don't like Foxnews or Ms. Palin, but it seems clear she's got your side all...afroth, to borrow your term.

I wonder why.

No, actually I don't.

That's kinda funny, too.

Hmmm.

I wouldn't describe their reaction to her as bemused...would you?

More along the lines of vitriolic and hateful...or...scared?

Oh please, "scared"?

She's Paris Hilton without the self-awareness, famous for being famous.

Scared.

Hardly as frightened as you must be.
Palin/Beck/Limbaugh...these are the people who represent your politics?
Your party has been hijacked by cartoons and you think I'm scared?

Edit: Fine then.
Let's for a moment assume you're correct and I (and by extension, ALL liberals because God knows, we all think in lockstep) am terrified of Sarah.
Delineate if you can, what exactly you think we have to be scared of.

BTW, saw this (http://www.denverpost.com/ci_13819872) article in the Post today which explains some of the wonky Federal Stimulus reports that you were so pleased to ascribe to the ineptitude- or even better, some grand conspiracy- of the Obama admin.
Why don't you and all your tea party buds rally over at Deb Hefftner's sign shop and give her what for?

My personal chuckle comes from seeing these so called fiscal conservatives screaming blue in the face about how much they oppose the stimulus while handing over those publisher clearing house sized stimulus checks and claiming credit for them.

This disconnect is hardly new, in fact, Palin's entire story about Alaskan "independence" and fiscal responsibility is sheer myth.
Alaska is one of the most heavily subsidized states in the union, receiving @ $1.84 back from the Federal government for every dollar it sends in.
Basically, without the largess of the other states, Alaska couldn't exist.

This handout, coupled with oil royalties- which Alaska didn't share with the other states but distributed to it's inhabitants- made Alaska semi-solvent for the past few decades.
Unfortunately, the oil royalties are drying up and without their yearly bonus checks, Alaskans are faced with an increasingly lopsided budget.

Probably one reason that Palin hightailed it out of her job- and the entire state she claims to love so much- whoever has to deal with Alaska's money shortfall is going to have to make some very unpopular choices that will expose the myth of the independent Alaska so beloved of conservatives.

It's always bad when the emperor is shown to have no clothes...in Alaska it's doubly bad because you'll freeze your tail off.

Palin scares you because you don't know if she plays ball behind the scenes like the current crop of republicans does, and you can't take the chance she won't.

This apart from the fact of your elitist views regarding the suitability of a non-Ivy League educated candidate, which point we've already discussed.

As to the expanation offered up by The Denver Post, I ascribe no more credibility to it than you do to Foxnews.

It's the age we live in, you see...I mean, even our U.K. contingent doesn't waste time trying to defend Auntie Beeb anymore, ffs.

clocker

So, we're at an impasse.

I'm at somewhat of a loss since I don't recall my "elitist non-Ivy league candidate" bias having ever been put forth- much less "discussed"- and I prefer to apply Occam's Razor to the Denver Post story rather than believe some incredibly involved conspiracy theory as you so obviously do.

Your explanation about my fear of Palin is equally unhinged, since I don't even know what "playing ball behind the scenes like the current crop of republicans" is supposed to mean, it's hard to respond.

So basically, I'm an elitist and you're crazy.
What else is new?

I believe you are on record hereabout as preferring your candidate's education to Palin's, owing to it's obvious "superiority" as a qualifying element.

As to your newspaper, what recommends it over, say, The Washington Examiner?

clocker
11-19-2009, 11:21 PM
Better quality newsprint?
Rocky Mountain water?
The fact that it actually interviewed a real person who explained that she had entered a ficticious district number just to complete the webform?

Not as sexy as the grassy knoll theory I'm sure you've formulated but somewhat easier to believe.

BTW, you are wrong about me being on record- here or anywhere else- about Obama's education being superior to Palin's due to it's origin.
Obama IS smarter than Palin but that's more a factor of her functional retardation than her place of education.
GWB certainly proved that an Ivy League diploma does not equate to intelligence.

You defended Ivy League education as superior to that available elsewhere.

Don't blame me for extending your logic for my purposes.

I just spent an hour running down the thread in question, then clicked off the page by mistake.

Anyway-

In an effort to denigrate Sarah Palin, you made a comment to the effect that an "Ivy League education" was preferable to one earned from "Wasilla Community College" but followed this by saying a good education could be had from any number of places, "including the public library".

By my estimation, that makes you right and me wrong.

My most humble apologies, sir.

clocker

Accepted.

The apology was overkill...an hour spent perusing my comments was punishment enough.

I too have found that the words on Palin's resume don't match reality.

If I had to describe her outlook in one word, that word would be "victim"
